Flashback...
Slappy held me close, trying to calm me down. "You did good," he said.
I looked up at him, tears running down my face. I was so full of anger. I had just hit the building and started falling! I could have been seriously hurt if Slappy did not come in time to catch me! And he just said to me that I did good?! I did far from good! I did bad.
Really bad.
"Are you kidding me?!" I exclaimed. "I could have gotten injured badly!"
"But you did not," he replied, wiping away my tears. "And I am happy for that."
I frowned. "I crashed into the side of a building! What kind of vampire does that?!"
"But you flew."
"I bet you have never seen any vampires hit any buildings while flying!"
"No, but I have seen some that fly very well." He took my hand into his, but I pushed him away.
"Admit it!" I said, to the point where I was yelling at him. "I am terrible at being a monster! I am a sad excuse for a monster! I do not know what you see in me or why you love me, but I will never be a great monster like you!"
I started to flee, but Slappy grabbed me and hugged me tightly, not letting me go.
"Baby, I do not like when you say those kinds of things, especially when they are not true."
"They are too!" I screamed. "Now let me go!" I tried to break free from his grasp, but his grip was too strong for me to break through.
"Slappy, please..." I begged, wanting him to let me go so I could be alone, but he still would not listen.
The puppet stroked my cheek and kissed my nose. "Shelly, I love you so much," he started to explain. "I want what it is best for you. I do not want to help you train on how to become a true monster because I think it will be funny. I want to help you because I know you can do it. I love you." He brushed my hair back as he continued.
"You have potential. And you gave me the one thing that no one else did."
I sniffed. "What?"
He smiled. "You gave me a chance. No one understood my pain or what I was going through. Not even my own Papa. And then, you came along. You understood me and were not even the slighted bit afraid of me, no matter what I did."
He brought my face close to his.
"I love you, Shelly Madison. With all my heart." He then kissed me deeply.
And I held his face and kissed him back.
End of Flashback.
"Shelly?" Slappy took my hand. "Will you?"
I looked down at him. "Will I what?"
"Will you marry me? I have been down on my knee for a couple of minutes, and you still did not answer my question."
Oh, man! I was so deep in thought about the past that I totally forgot that Slappy was proposing to me!
How did that happen?
I smiled. "Well..."
He took both of my hands into his. "Shelly Madison, I promise to always protect you, no matter what. Because I love you very much."
Slappy was definitely right about that. Since we met, he has always been keeping me safe from people that would want to hurt me.
And I did truly love him.
And he truly loved me.
I kissed his head and nodded. "Yes, Slappy. I will marry you."
The puppet smiled as he put the diamond ring on my finger, and then hugged me. "I love you, Shelly."
I giggled and rubbed my nose against his. "I love you too, Slappy."
Then, we kissed each other deeply.
