Chapter 6

I could tell the thing in the woods was not an animal but it was definitely not human either. “Hello Edward, I’m Dane.” Edward had a puzzled look on his face “how do you know my name?”

“Well in order to find you I had to know your name” I was digging my nails into Edwards arm and he tensed up because he knew I was scared. “Now since you killed my mate, I plan on killing yours” this Dane guy had a sly look on his face and it kind of scared me so I hid behind Edward. “Your mate? I don’t even know you let alone your mate.” Edward protested “I beg to differ, that girl in the ally that was my mate.”

“That was almost a hundred years ago” Edward was aggravated “well you’re still going to feel what I had to feel” he was in a crouch and about to pounce right then Alice, Jasper, Rosalie, Emmett, Carlisle and Esme showed up. “This is our territory, you need to leave now.” Carlisle explained then Dane was out of sight. Edward turned around and put my face in his hands. “Are you okay sweetheart?”

“Ya I’m just a little shaken up” I said. “We need to hide her” Carlisle interrupted. Edward looked at him and then threw me on his back and started to run. When we stopped I was suddenly in the backseat of a car.

Edward and Alice were in the front and me and Emmett were in the back. I watched the speedometer slowly creep up to 110 “Edward where are you taking me?” I asked. “We’re taking you east”

“Why?”

“We have to get you out of here”

“But I have to go back. What if that Dane guy kills my mom, he knows where I live.” I had an image in my head of my mom lying dead and lifeless. “She’s right” Alice agreed “just let me get her out of here” Edward screamed at Alice. I didn’t like the way he was talking to her. “I’ll just tell my mom I’m leaving, going back to Illinois to be with my sister.”

“What if she calls your sister” he demanded. “I’ll call her and tell her to cover for me”

“Edward, you have to consider it. It sounds like a good plan” Alice said “I just want to get her away from here”

“Edward I think we should go with Mya’s plan” Emmett chimed in. Edward nodded “you have 15 minutes to do this okay Mya. Tell your mom you hate it in Washington, throw a bag together and tell her you’re going to Illinois to be with your sister. Then call your sister and tell her that if your mom calls her to say that your with her. Tell Jodell that you’re okay and you’re with me”

“Okay” I said “Emmett would you mind driving I want to be with Mya.”

“Sure thing bro” I have no idea how he could have a sense of humor at the moment with everything that’s happening. I think it’s because in his mind he’s going to rip this guy to shreds.  As soon as Edward was in the seat he pulled me on to his lap and held me tight. “I love you, you know that right” he kissed the top of my head. “Yes, I know” I said in a hushed voice. He whispered in my ear “I will make you safe again” I nodded and tears started to flow down my cheeks. He pulled my face up to his and wiped the tears away then he kissed my cheek. I stared at his face trying to remember this moment. “You’re so beautiful” he whispered then the car stopped. “15 minutes okay, Alice will wait for you in your car” I nodded and he kissed me one last time. “You better go”

When I got to the door I furiously pushed it open. “Mom I’m leaving, I hate it here”

“Well where are you going” she asked. I could hear the outrage in her voice. “I’m going to my sisters.” I ran to my room, ripped out my drawer and threw whatever I could find in my duffle bag. I had trouble with the zipper, but then I was slightly pushed and Edward zipped it up, effortlessly. I threw the bag over my shoulder and clung to him. “Go, Alice will bring you to my house”

“Okay” I said and then I ran out of my room. “Mom I just have to leave, Okay. Bye” I ran out the front door and to my car. When I shut the door I patted my pockets to look for my keys, but they weren’t there. “Looking for these” Alice waved my keys in front of my face “um… ya, thanks”

“Want me to drive?” she said “ya” I got out of the car and went to the passenger seat. I was so wrapped up in my thoughts. What’s going to happen to me, what will happen to Edward, his family? “Mya calm down” Alice said. I tried some deep breathing but I didn’t help, I was too stressed.

When we got to the house Edward grabbed me and brought me in. he stood me up right once we were in the house. “Esme, would you mind changing clothes with Mya.” Edward asked “Not a problem” Esme replied. She grabbed my arm and toed me along up the stairs. The room we were in was so dark, I could hardly see anything. Esme started handing me clothes and I put them on in a hurry.

Once we were back downstairs I saw Rosalie shoot me a death glare and then Edward grabbed me by the waist and stared into my eyes. He smoothed my hair and then kissed my forehead “Mya your going to be fine, don’t worry” then Carlisle spoke “Edward, me, you and Emmett are going to look for Dane. Esme and Rosalie are going to stay here and look over Mya’s mom. Alice and jasper you will take Mya to Illinois. Mya you will need to talk to your sister. Okay everyone, let’s go.” Everyone started to walk into the garage except for me and Edward. I started to cry again. “I’m not going with you” I managed to choke out. “No. I know Mya; it will be hard for me too”

I laid my head on his chest. He pulled my face up to his and crushed his lips to mine. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pushed myself up on my tip toes. He smiled against my lips and said “I love you”

“I love you too.” then he put his hand in mine and we walked into the garage.

“Alice you take the Mercedes you’ll need the tint if it gets sunny” Carlisle explained. I slowly let go of Edwards hand and proceeded towards Carlisle’s car. When I shut the door I dug in my purse for my cell phone so I could call my sister. I noticed Edward and Alice talking through the window in the front seat; I just continued to look for my phone. When I found it I looked up and we were already moving and I hadn’t even noticed.

I quickly dialed my sister’s number. “Hello?” I heard on the other side of the receiver. “Jodell?”

“Mya! Why are you calling me so early?”

“I need your help”

“With what?” She said in a panic”

 “If my mom calls you tell her I’m over there with you. Don’t worry I’m with Edward, okay?”

“Okay”

“Thanks sis”

“Yep”

“Bye”

“Goodbye”

I already missed Edward too much. Right then he texted me; it said I miss you. I texted back I miss you too. I tried remembering how his face looked in the car. Once I had it in my mind, I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
