Chapter 18

Chloe's P.O.V.

We got home around 9:00am. McKinsey and I had to wake up Matthew and Harris because they fell back asleep on the way home. when they walked inside Matthew fell back asleep on the couch and Harris fell asleep on the floor in front of the couch on the floor.

"Are they always like this?" I asked McKinsey

"No...but they usually fall asleep around 2 in the roller rink. this time they fell asleep around 5." McKinsey answered.

"Why did they stay up that late?"

"Cause...um...you should ask Matthew that..ok" she said looking nervous.

"And tell me what he says because I want to here if he is lying or not." she stated.

"UH..ok." I said confused.

"So are you hungry?" she asked me.

"Yea..i didn't eat anything last night."

"Oh..good...then will you be my best friend and cook pancakes? please?" she said looking like a little kid doing a puppy dog face.

"I thought I was the guest. aren't you suppose to cook for me?"

"Well your gonna be around a lot..i can tell" she smiled. " And since you're gonna be around here a lot...well I'm not gonna cook for you all the time. your gonna have to start making stuff yourself." she finished.

"Preach it Kinsey..." I said

she rolled her eyes. "just make some freaking pancakes!"

"Ok" I laughed.

Matthew and Harris got up by time the pancakes were done. we all ate and everyone helped clean up afterwards.

I was still wondering what Matthew was doing last night but I wanted to ask him when we were alone. so I waited until everyone left the kitchen and told Matthew to stay. Harris went into Matthews bedroom and started to play a video game. McKinsey went into her room. I bit my lip and we both walked outside on the porch. it was a beautiful sunny day. it wasn't cold but wasn't hot enough to make you sweat. I took in a deep breath and let it out. I don't know why but i felt like something bad was about to happen.

"So...me and Kinsey were talking and she told me that you usually fell asleep around 2 at the lock-in and you stayed up until 5 this time. I asked her what you were doing and she said that I should ask you instead of her...so what were you doing?" I said in one breath. Matthew looked suspicious and then let out a breath when I said Kinsey wouldn't tell me.

"Oh..thats what this is about. I thought I was in trouble. I was messing around with some of my friends. we were playing some of the games and we were making the guy that was selling candy mad. oh and she was probably talking about the money I borrowed from you. sorry I didn't tell you but you were asleep and I didn't want to wake you. I thought you wouldn't care if I borrowed 10 dollars from you. you don't care do you?" he said giving me 10 dollars.

"That's all? no I don't care." i said relieved taking the 10 dollars. We went back inside and We went into Matthews room. Matthew started playing xbox with Harris. I got bored and walked out of the room. I went into McKinsey's room and sat down beside her. She was on her computer.

"Hey" she said without looking up at me.

"Hey" I said back.

"So did you ask him?" She said finally looking up from her computer.

"Yea..you don't have to worry. he gave me the 10 dollars he borrowed back. I don't really see why..."

"10 dollars? that's what he told you? wait tell me exactly what he said!" she cut me off.

"Well I told him how you said that he usually fell asleep around 2 and how last night he fell asleep around 5. then i said that you wouldn't tell me what he was doing and how I should ask him. he said that he was playing games with his friends and making the guy that sold candy mad and that you were probably talking about how he borrowed 10 dollars from me but it's ok because he gave me it back." I said relaxed. McKinsey's eyes brows flew up to her forehead like she was confused.

"What?" I asked her.

"Wow! he actually lied to you. wow!" she said

"He lied?!?"

"Yea! big time!"

I sign and held in the tears. I just couldn't belie he lied to me! McKinsey called Matthew in and he stood by the door frame confused. I looked up at him and when he caught my gaze I looked towards McKinsey.

"So...Chloe told me what you told her you were doing last night." She said.

"Kinsey don't do this! please don't!" Matthew Pleaded

"Matthew you lied to her." She said back.

"To protect her! not to hurt her...which is what you are gonna do if you tel her!" Matthew said almost in tears.

"No! your gonna tell her what your really did last night."

"I cant! I can't hurt her like that! I mean I didn't want her to get mad and i didn't want her to leave me! And you know if I told her she would have ran away from me. she would have thought I was terrible for doing it and she wouldn't want to every talk to me again!"

"Well...its better than lying to her and stilling having to tell her the truth..now isn't it?" I looked up at Matthew and he was crying. our eye met and he mumbled under his breath "I'm so so sorry Chlo! I am! please forgive me!"

"What did you do?" I said it sounding more like a demand rather than a question.

"I...i" another tear fell down his cheek.

"I....
