You pace nervously in your lion, "I feel like something is off. This whole thing seems suspicious." You complain to the new head of Voltron. Keith sighs. "I know, but you're the only one that can take on this mission."

You are the paladin of the purple lion, and Keith has asked you to check out a distress signal that had arrived a few hours ago. You were the closest to the site, so Keith asked you to check it out. Thinking it was nothing, you had agreed. But now that you've arrived, something feels... off. You keep getting an odd tingling in the back of your neck.

There's no one for miles and the place is deserted and icy cold, frost has already started to solidify into ice around your lion.

"Keith, I'm telling you. Something is wrong!" you say, stopping your frantic pacing so you can look at the recently developed black paladin.

He sighs. "Give it some time, y/n. I'm sure they're just in hiding."

"Keith, my scans don't pick up anything!" You argue. "Nothing! Zip! Zero! Goose egg, whatever! There is no sign of life anywhere!" to be frank, you're starting to miss the real black paladin. Shiro had always trusted your gut. You had major instincts when it came to sensing something. Shiro trusted you.

Keith on the other hand sometimes thought you made the wrong choice.

Lance pops up on the screen. "Oh, hey, y/n. Any luck? By the way, Keith, Pidge needs some help in the back. She's creating something, and quite honestly, she's scaring me."

Keith gives a frustrated groan. "Fine." he walks off and Lance takes control, "Don't worry about Keith, y/n. He can be a real stick in the mud sometimes. Anything exciting happen yet?" he asks curiously.

You look at the newest red paladin. (glory, all these color changes are so confusing.)  "To answer your question, Lance, nothing has happened. Absolutely nothing! Why is it that I'm always the one running around doing chores while you guys are the ones having all the fun? The only time I get to play is when we have to form Voltron." you gripe. "Even then, I just form the tail." you bang your head on the dashboard. Your lion gives a comforting hum. He chuckles and leans on his hands. "You're adorable when you pout."

Your eyes narrow, your cheeks grow red, and your nose scrunches. "Say that again, Lance, and you'll be dead when I get back." you may think you don't look cute, but the other paladins find it adorable and hilarious when you get angry.

You can see that he's trying not to laugh. You fold your arms across your chest. "Not funny."

The red paladin falls from sight and you can hear uproarious laughter from the other side of the comm. You roll your eyes at his stupidness. "Keep laughing, you quiznacking idiot." you scoff. You sigh at the paladins' craziness and hit the 'end' button. The screen turns black and you look outside your lion's window. "Sometimes I worry about the new red paladin."

Your lion rumbles in agreement and you chuckle lightly.

You and the purple lion have a special bond. More so than some of the paladins. You rely on her and she relies on you. You both are synced in mind, warning each other, and protecting each other to the last breath.

You have the strongest mental link than the rest of the paladins, save Shiro of course, but when he went missing and the changes with the lion's occurred, you had one of the best bonds.

You and the previous black paladin have around the same amount of mental links in the group. But you and your lion can mentally have a conversation. A real back and forth conversation.

Suddenly, a wave of worry crashes through your mind, pulling you out of your thoughts. You yell in surprise and stumble back. "Whoa! What's wrong girl?" you ask patting her dashboard. She gives a loud growl, which vibrates like crazy inside. Normally your lion doesn't act like this. So... What's going on?

You scan the area to get nothing once again. "Everything is okay, girl. What's going on? Are you okay? What's happening?" a stream of concerned questions exit your mouth. The lioness hasn't acted like this before. Only a few times when the team was in danger or falling into a trap. But there's nothing. Maybe your worry is rubbing off on her?

Her answer comes like a roar to your mind. Unknown life forms, seem hostile.

Your eyes narrow. "But the scans come out negative... Wait... What's that?!" you point to a large tower that's on a rotating ice burg. "Let's go check it out. Maybe that's where the distress signal came from," you say, happy to at least do have found something. At least now you don't have to come back empty-handed.

Be careful, my paladin. I am not sure what it is... But I don't like it. She warns. You nod in understanding, pulling your bayard into your hand. It turns into a spear and you slip it onto the back of your armor.

The moment you land, nothing happens. Nothing. "See, girl? Nothing bad happened," you say, trying to calm the great beast, but her worry makes you a bit on edge, more so than earlier. She begins to pace restlessly. I don't like this, my young cub. Something seems off. Should we not be greeted by those that contacted us?

You nod, realizing that the lioness is right. "I agree with you... Something is off." You turn on the comm. "Keith... Come in, black paladin. Come in spicy boy. Hello?"

"What did you just call me? Never mind. Mission report?" you can't help but snort at Keith's annoyance. Making the leader a little annoyed is always something fun to do, even when your stomach is turning to knots and your blood is pulsating in your ears.

"Somethings off, and it's not just me. My lion is getting nervous too, and you know for a fact it's weird for her to get nervous," you explain.

Keith is quiet for a moment. "Okay... Come back to the castle and we'll figure this out." Finally. You say to your lion. She purrs in response.

You nod to Keith. "Understood," the comm goes dead and Keith's face disappears. You sigh with relief and turn towards home. You smile, glad that you're able to go home now. But still, you can't get that nagging feeling that something is wrong. The hair on the back of your neck is prickling like crazy.

"C'mon, let's go..." the power inside your lion shuts down. "Home?" you begin to press a few buttons. "Purple?" You call nervously. Your heart jumps in your throat when she doesn't reply and you hear a scratching noise outside the hull of your lion. You ready your staff, unsure. "Who's there?!" you yell. C'mon girl... Reboot... Please! Wake up! You cry desperately to her, using the mental link. There's no reply.

Everything goes quiet as if the sound had been completely cut.

Then, a freezing cold that only the outside of the ship could hold enters, and footsteps echo along the roof.
