Emma POV
"I'm so hungry?" Bobby says loudly breaking the silence Professor caused when he left the room. "Dude so am I" Wenston hashes in sighing and scratching the back of his head, "What're we gonna eat then?"Kurt questions blinking his eyes to adjust his contacts, I giggle to myself I can tell he still isn't used to them yet. "Let's go to a restaurant or something it's been awhile since we've all been in one room like this" Wenston says glancing around at everyone, I want to smile but we all aren't here, I stop myself from saying it too. "You coming Preston?" Bobby questions standing from his seat, "Yeah" Preston mumbles monotoned, he's staring at me. I can tell, I don't have to look to know I can always feel it. I want to look in his direction as well but I don't think I'll be able to take our eyes meeting again like they had done earlier, not after how he hurt me.
"Emma, you coming?" Kurt questions gathering his large duffel bag that stays glued across his shoulder and hip. "I'm not really hungry" I say running my fingers through the base of my hair. "I may just take a nap" I say "LAME!" Wenston says loudly "C'mon we need to catch up I really missed you guys, while you all were off doing things to help establish a future for mutants I've been right at home working out" Wenston says with a sigh "Basically doing nothing" Bobby says, I can tell he's eager and excited. "So Emma you are coming out with us, you have no choice" He says with a smile I can't help but smile back. "Ok, ok" I say giving in I stand from my seat, "WHOO!" Bobby cheers loudly with his arms stretched high in the air.
**********
"Bro what is this place?" Preston questions glancing over at Wenston. "Dude you've never heard of Carl's" Wenston questions walking beside me "No" Preston simply says "I looks sleazy" I say taking in the outside appearance, this certainly doesnt look like a restaurant of my standards. "It's ran by mutants" Wenston says "I only looks this way on the outside to keep humans from wanting to come in" Wenston explains. "Well they did an awesome job, I'm a mutant and I don't even wanna go in" Kurt says causing everyone to laugh. "I agree with Kurt" Bobby says. "Stop being a bunch of babies" Wenston says as if he's offened, "In the times we're in we should be glad mutants are brave enough to do stuff like this" Wenston shout loudly "Ok ok dude chill, it was just a joke" Bobby says holding both his hands out as if he were surrendering I can't help but giggle at Wenston. It's one of the first times I've actually seen him serious about something. "Whoa, I'm sorry guys I think I'm starting to get like dad" He says causing us all to laugh again. "That does sound like something Professor would say" I admit with a giggle.
We walk inside and too my surprise its actually nice, it looks like a place I would proudly eat in. Up ahead there's what looks like a metal detector, which mutants up ahead of us take turns walking inside. "A lot of bar fights I assume"Bobby says walking beside me "No, it's not what it seems" Wenston says "A normal human would think it's a metal detector, but instead it's an X-Gene detector. I scans for X-Genes inside mutants and if it finds them then they let you pass" He explains "Interesting" Kurt says squinting his eyes. "What happens if they don't find any?" Preston questions "Then they'll escort you out and erase your memory of this place" Wenston says "Wow" I gasp taking a step forward. "Thats a bit harsh don't you think?" I say running my fingers through my hair. "Yes, I admit that, but you guys don't understand. Us as Mutants we have to be careful in the times we're in right now. Our population rate has been dropping rapidly, and its better to be safe than sorry." Wenston explains "Imagine if one human, just one ! Found out about this place, all it takes is one person to tell and then here comes the torches and The F.M.B. Just like we have X-Gene Detectors so do they, but our endings are harmless compared to what we do to humans, we end up with cure, and if we're lucky maybe a bullet to the back of the head". Wenston walks forward and through the X-Gene Detector it lights up green so I'm guessing he's passed, I sigh at the harsh things Wenston says and he's right.
