Maxon's POV

We eventually get out. It's the next day during the night. The maids fixed our rooms up very quickly. America sleeps and so does the babies. The nurseries are across the hall. We have a baby monitor in each room. I tuck America in for the night. I know she's exhausted. I am too. I kiss Eadlyn and put her in her crib. Then go to Ahren's room and do the same.

Aspen told me the rebels surrendered. The hospital wing is packed with wounded. We've lost a lot of staff and guards. Aspen said they had at least two hundred people. The main problem for them was getting passed the gate.

I have to have an emergency meeting with my advisors. "Your majesty, we're sorry for the interruption."

"Its fine all three of them are asleep," I say with a smile. "General Leger has interrogated James Underwood. He's not speaking unless he talks to America."

"He can't and won't talk to her," I say.

"We all understand. We have his wife in custody too. He nor she wants to see each other. Their children on the other hand. He wants nothing to do with them. She wants them, but she can't. She is serving a life worth years in prison. Her only wishes were for them not to be put in the foster care system."

"Has anyone come forward wanting to adopt them?" I ask.

"A maid has. It's her mother."

"Its only fair to give them to her," I say.

"One problem. She is dying. And dying quickly."

"Anyone else?" The advisor shakes his head. I sigh at the thought of two innocent children parentless. If I were to offer to take them in the country would be in an outrage. America would be in an even bigger outrage. Plus they're older than Eadlyn and Ahren. The older one would be king, because of age. But that complicates the biological factor. It says the royal family must be biological.

"I know what you're think your majesty. It can't happen," An advisor says.

"I know. I feel bad for them. They did nothing to put themselves in this situation."

"I know about the royal family rules, but what if they wouldn't be a king of Illea? They could just be princes. And if princesses want to marry them, then they can be a ruler in that country."

"What would the country think? What would America think?" I say.

"Sorry to step in," a guard says, "my wife and I. We haven't been very lucky with having a baby. We'd love to have two boys."

"Perfect!" An advisor says, "congratulations!"

"Thank you," the guard says.

"We'll make arrangements tomorrow."

"Thank you so much. My wife will be so happy. Thank you for making this dream come true."

"I'm glad we could make it happen," I say. The guard bows and goes back to his position. "Shouldn't we tell Emily that we've found a nice couple for them?" I ask.

"Of course. Your majesty, would you like to tell her?"

"Sure," I say.

"We will conclude this meeting tomorrow morning. It's getting very late," an advisor says. They all gather their things and leave. I head to the cells.

Emily lays on a little bed. She perks up when she hears me. "What's happened? Are my boys okay?"

"They're fine. But you need to listen to me," I say and she nods, "You are serving a life sentence in here. Your husband otherwise is up for execution once we get the information we need. Your boys are abandoned now. Your mother is dying very quickly. They need a stable home. We've found one that will take care of them very well."

"Are they going to know I'm their mother?"

"Probably not." She hangs her head low. "But don't worry. I made sure they're in good hands." She smiles a little.

"Even though I did those terrible things to you and America, I still think you're a great guy. I'm not in love with you, but you are a really great guy," she says. "I'll check up on them for you," I say. She nods. "Thank you. You didn't have to tell me anything, but you did."

"No problem," I say smiling. I get up and leave her. I do feel bad for her. Her only children are being taken away from her.

I crack the door open and America is out on the balcony. "Hey, what are you doing up?" I ask.

"Just looking," she says. I walk up next to her and stare out at the stars. "Are you feeling okay?" I ask.

"Just thinking."

"About..." I say.

"The kids. She's going to be the future queen. I really hate putting the pressure on her."

"Don't worry about the future. We're going to handle it when it comes. Just think about now. About us. Be in the moment," I say grabbing her hands. She leans her forehead on mine. "I don't know what I'd do without you," I say, "I love you so much. The words escape my mouth. My love for you explodes everytime I'm with you. It's exploding right now."

"I don't know what to say. You've taken the words out of my mouth. I don't know if I can top that," she says laughing.

"You always do. Just being you," I say. I press my lips on her's. My lips melt with love for her. I want to savor this moment forever. I just want to be next to her for the rest of my life. All I need is her. She's my world.

That night we were the stars winking at each other. The ones that are touching that look like one big star. Because America is my star. She is the center of my solar system. My love when I think it's gone. My sunshine on the stormy day. My heart beat that makes me alive. She's my America and always will be.
