Accidents Happen

*Flash Back*

“Mum…you’re going to be a grandma…” I say and fear for the worse. I knew my mum wouldn’t be the happiest. Her nineteen year old son having a baby. Let alone I just met the girl around a year ago. “Surprise….”

“Harold…” She shakes her head at me. At least we were only talking on Skype. She couldn’t really slap me from here. “How could you be so irresponsible Harry?” I felt bad I disappointed her. I knew that what happened was wrong but I’d rather tell her know then have her find out through the paps. “How did this happen?” She looked continuously sad.

“You know how it happened Mum.” I say, trying not to turn red. I didn't really want toe tell her how we made a baby. She has two kids, she should be a pro at this. 

“I know, but…what happened. Please tell me you knew what you were getting into.” She says. This will really blow her away when I tell her this.

“We were drunk. I’m sorry mum.” I say and she just sighs, followed by another ‘Harold….’. “I’m sorry mum but I love this girl. It doesn’t really matter to me how we made this baby. I love this baby. A lot. I know it’s a lot of responsibility being a dad but I think Madi and I can do it. I love both of them so much.” I say and she just smiles for once. “I know I let you down, but I have full intents to marry her and help her raise our child. The boys are with me on this.”

“That’s very big of you Harry. I’d hug you if I could. I don’t know if I should say this, but I’m proud of you. I can’t wait to meet my grandchild.” She just keeps smiling. “I think you should go tell your sister now. She’ll be excited.” She says. “I should be going now Harry. Tell Madi she can come see us whenever she wants, okay?” 

“She’ll be glad to hear that you aren’t too mad.” I smile. “Bye mum…love you.”

“Love you too. Be careful out there.” I hit the end call button and grab my phone. Gemma Gemma Gemma. I sigh and click her name.

“Harry!” She picks up the phone and I can hear in her voice that she’s smiling. “It’s nice to hear from you, finally! How are the boys? How’s Madi?” She asks.

“Pregnant.” I say without thinking and the line is silent.

“What!?” She just yelled at me. “Have you told mum?!” She asks in shock.

“Of course I told her. She told me to tell you! She said you’d be excited!” I raise my voice back at her.

“Oh I am! I’m just shocked! I thought you were smarter than that Harry. Okay, at least I graduated. That’s what you miss when you drop out of school early. They teach you how to use protection Harry. Pays to go to school.” She lectures me.

“I doubt that’s what they teach in school Gemma.” I say whilst rolling my eyes.

“Sex Education Harry.” She says with sass. “Well, tell me about the baby….”

“It’s still inside her! I don’t know much about it! It’s like the size of my fist right now!” I shrug my shoulders.

“What’s its name? Is it a boy or a girl? Is it going to live with you or Madi.” She runs off as many questions as she can think of.

One, I can’t tell you the name options. Madi and I are keeping that a secret till she’s bo-“

“So it’s a girl?!” She jumps right on that. “Oh a niece! How cute!”

“No, we don’t know yet, we’re finding that out in a couple months, together. Let me finish, two, I already answered that question. Three, Madi and I are going to get married and live together. It will live with the both of us.” I say and shake my head. “You did know we were engaged right?”

“Oh yeah…Of course… I just eliminated that from my mind.” She answers.

“Don’t you like her?” I ask.

“Yeah! I love Madi! I just think you guys took this way too fast.” She answers again.

 “You think we planned this baby?!” I laugh.

“Well, that’s what responsible people do Harry.”  She always seems to point out the fact that somehow she’s better than me.

“We got drunk and made a baby. Oopsiedasisy. “ I say with a shrug. “Accidents happen. My bad.” I say again. “I didn’t know it was a crime to become a father in England.” I sigh.

“It’s not, unless I get a nephew. I want a niece.” She demands. 

“Again! I can’t control that!”
