"You need bed sheets," Lance glared at Keith, who was drifting off to sleep for the seventh day in a row, without bedding. Keith mutter something slightly offensive and turned to face the wall. "I will not take no for an answer!" Lance glided across the room and turned on the lights, blinding Keith like the vampire he secretly is.

"It's midnight, Lance. Go to bed!" Lance did not listen. Instead, he peeled off his face mask and grabbed Keith's ankles to force him up. "God! No, don't touch me. I'm coming," His eyes and lips were heavy with sleep, and his walk was sluggish as he headed for the door. Lance right behind him.

"You," Lance noticed, "did not bring any money. Or keys."

     "Your treat."

     ***

They returned to the dorm room at ten to two, laughing at a joke and full of pizza. Lance unlocked the door and opened it for Keith, who had the bundle of blankets, pillows, and sheets in his arms. "You can finally get a good nights sleep!" Lance locked the door behind him. Keith made his bed with his new sheets, they were grey to match the drab of his room. Well, not necessarily the whole room, but his side. Lance's half was covered with family photographs and pictures of him and his friends. His bedding was a blinding blue, and his desk was already full of scattered papers.

Keith, however, had cleaned up his side every day. Keeping it shabby and boring. Now with the bedding, it will finally show signs of the boy who lives there. Or sleeps there, Keith didn't consider himself to have a home. But now he considered himself to have at least one friend. Lance McClain. And that had to count for something.

When he got into his newly made bed he did assume he'd have a good nights sleep, like Lance had said. And yet no matter what he did, he could not sleep. Listening to Lances snores from across the room made Keith wonder how he had ended up in this situation. Keith had never been in love, but if falling in love was as hyped up as it was said to be, this was it.

***

The next morning, Keith rolled out of bed before Lance, and way after their first classes had began. He wasn't sure if he could wake up the other boy, he looked so calm. And he definitely could not shake him awake, even giving him a high five would feel too intimate at this point. In the end, he decided to get dressed and shower before casually arousing Lance.

When he stepped out of the shower, however, Lance was sitting up, his arms stretched out in a yawn. Keith scrambled, as his towel was wrapped around his waist and his whole upper body was exposed. He was over reacting, he knew that. Lance would pay no attention, cause Lance was straight. Lance was normal. Keith gave him a sultry wave and glided to the closet. He took out the clothes he needed and tossed Lance the sweater he asked for.

Lance stepped out before Keith, desperate to catch the last few minutes of his class. Keith however, wasn't in a hurry. Now that he had admitted to his self his feelings for Lance, he wanted to get to know him better. The pictures on Lances side were hung neatly on the wall beside his bed, as well as one framed photo on his nightstand. Keith picked up the photo and examined it. It consisted of Lance along with two others around his same age.

Lance was in the middle, to his left was a younger girl, long hair and dressed in green. She was forcing a smile on her face, but it was obvious to Keith that she really was happy. On Lances right was a larger guy, almost but not quite as tall as Lance. He had dark and short hair and was wearing an orange tee, he was clutching a cookie in his right hand. Keith put the photo down on the bed and felt slightly evasive, but not enough to stop himself from looking at the other photos. There was an old photo of him and what appeared to be his mother and father.

The woman was short, but the way she held herself and the look in her eyes practically screamed Lance. The man however, was tall and lanky, not unlike Lances. And his hair looked identical to that of his son. Keith remembered a time where he had a loving family, or thought that he did. And then they started with the abuse... he could handle the physical aspect, but it really did a job on his mind.

His phone alarm went off for his second class, and he left the room. Not remembering to return the first photo to its rightful place on the bedside table.
