Appreciate what you have before its snatched away.
Amiyrah's pov:Rubbing my eyes as I wake up to the sound of an alarm besides my bed. It was almost 7.15am. My eyes wide open, as I realised I'm almost late to work. Quickly getting off the bed making my way to the bathroom.
I was once again late and had to listen to dads' taunts. "can't I just have space of my own and do whatever on earth I'd wished to?" softly questioning myself as I dress up into a black skirt and a polka dotted top. As Soon as i was done with my makeup, I walked out of my room running down the hallway as i head towards the car. right after hopping in, i suddenly remembered the scarf dad had lectured me about.
I quickly walked back inside and grabbed the scarf and got back into the car. It was about to be the second most hectic day of my life. The comfort and late night fun was soon going to be out of question. Dad was hell bent on making me take over the company and start training.
Upon reaching the office, I walked in a rapid pace straight into my father's office with a silly grin on my face. "Good morning daddy." Greeted him as I walked to his table and sat on the couch besides it. "How many times should I tell you that it's Assalamualeikum and not any other form of greetings! As a Muslim, you should bear that in mind." He yelled as he stood up and walked towards me. A long lecture was about to start from his end. That was the reason too as to why I was saddened upon finishing my course and getting back home.
Trying hard to suppress my anger, as I ball my hands into a fist and clench my jaws looking around the office to avoid eye contact with him. I wasn't in any condition to argue, knowing matters will go worse than it were. "Alright, alright! I'll make sure to keep that in mind the next time I come over." Spitting my decision in a mid tone as I stand with my arms across.
"Hoping to see a change in you Amiyrah," he added as he made his way back to his table and called in for the operations manager to start with my training promptly. "What training do I need? Haven't I studied with all that your company deals with? What did I go university for? I know my work!" Anger started to build up in me as I couldn't hold any longer to express how I felt, how much of irritated I felt being in the office and how desperately I needed to have a life of my own. I wasn't ready to work yet and have responsibilities of the company over my shoulder!.
"Amiyrah It's not that I doubt your knowledge, but not all companies work the same way. And come to see you have zero work experience, which is why you are in need of training. To know how this company runs and what's required." Calmy explaining as his eyes filled up with tears. I never understood the reason as to why he got emotional but all It looked like was an emotional blackmail.
I stood up stomping my feet as the manager walked in to guide me to the department i was to first start my training with. Everyone around looked joyous and happy with their work apart from me who was on the verge of breaking down into tears.
"Welcome to the finance department, Emily hewett here will explain how this section of the company runs." Aaqib the operations manager gestures ahead with a wide smile on his face. Only if I could slap the shit out of him.
Ignoring his effort of introducing me to the staff, i quickly sit on the chair nearby and demand to start working rather than wasting time knowing whom I was dealing with. As it was, I wasn't interested. All I had to do was to know how to go about it and get done with.
