Ayaan's Pov:
My body had no strength to keep myself awake and do the thinking. My brain stutters for a moment and my eyes widen up, every part of me goes on pause while the thoughts catch up. I keep staring blankly onto the ceiling until sleep takes over.
Waking up to the sound of ummi making breakfast in the kitchen." shit I'm so late" I slap my face shockingly as I get off the bed, and head to freshen up as i get ready to leave for work. I quickly grab a slice of sandwich and storm off the house.
Last night's thoughts kept recurring as I was on my way to work. Upon reaching, I was alerted that I've missed one of the most important meeting which had totally slipped off my head. "Ugh not this one." I clench my hands into a tight fist.
it was a mistake helping Amiyrah whereas things have started going the opposite of good. I walked into my office and just let my body drop dead onto the chair and head on the table. Thousands of thoughts running in my head.
Suddenly I hear a loud bang on the door, I quickly raised my head up to see the boss walking in furiously. His face had turned red, showing visible veins all over his forehead and hands. This was definitely not good. I prayed hard for things to go a little bit better than worse, when finally words flew his mouth like sharp daggers hitting all over my body.
"First and foremost, Mr Ayaan, this is not professional at all. Being late for a meeting and then not attending at all. Secondly lying around like nothing has happened, whereas we have lost our big contract. I do not accept irresponsible people in my company!!!." His hands formed into a tight fit as he looks at me. anger boils deep in his system, forming a lava. His face changing into the colour of an over-ripe tomato.
I look at him surprisingly knowing i was at fault, but thought it won't be that of a big deal. He suddenly raises his eyebrows with eye widened, seeking for explanation. "I'm sorry, I know I've committed a big mistake and I promise not to repeat it again." I justify myself in a calm manner.
He kept staring at me from the moment he entered the office, eyes glued on me. He never let me out of his focus. I kept looking down as sweat trickles down my neck. He suddenly picks up a call and moves out of the office. I knew I was in trouble. It was very hard to get qualified into a company this big. Despite having good grades, experience is what I lacked.
He made his way back into the office looking less angry, but more sympathetic. I look at him with a surprised face not knowing what was going around in his head. "I'm sorry to inform you, but you'll kindly have to sign on the resignation paper prepared by my secretary in a while or I will rather fire you, which will not look good." His words splattered like fire.
Tears formed in my eyes about to drop off. I knew this small mistake was not the cause of losing my job, rather it was all Mr. Asad who had caused this havoc. I quietly walked out of my office, signed a resignation letter.
Scanning around the busy streets as I walk in a slow pace. Everything was shattered in a blink of an eye. It was very hard getting another job. The thoughts of how ummi would feel, broke me into pieces from within. I could no longer hold my tears back. They kept rolling over my cheeks uncontrollably. Emotions hitting me from every corner of my being, I look forward to cross the street, when a black Porsche parked right in front of me, blocking my way to cross the road.
Not paying much attention, as I move forward and to my utter surprise, the car once again moved ahead of me driving along the pace I was walking. Clenching my teeth as I form a fist in my hand about to bang the car, when my eyes traced all over to Mr, Asad. What was he doing here? Or rather he knew where I was, since he had been spying on me for quite a time now.
As angry as I was, words poured out of my mouth like pebbles. "What now!!!?? Are you happy that i lost my job? Or rather you caused me jobless.?" I look at him rigid with fury. " can we have a talk please?" He calmly speaks as he opens the door gesturing me to enter. "Have a sit, I want to clarify some things with you." As I make my way inside the car.
We drive off on a long drive, passing by beautiful mountains, the fresh scent of nature hitting my buds. It was a beautiful view. When we finally reached some place silent, beautiful and green. It seemed like a private place with benches and tables. I got off the car and sat out on the benches taking in freshness from the nature and the amazing scenery, cold air caressing my skin causing goosebumps, as I wait for Mr. Asad and what he had to say.
His constant looks were building up the suspense, when he finally cleared up his throat and began justifying his behaviour. "First and foremost, I'm very sorry for the difficult situation I've put you through, I should have taken action diplomatically but I have reached a point where time is no longer in my favour." His voice starts shaking as he looks down ashamed.
"I have been battling with cancer for quite a long time now, but I've reached the last stage..very few months left in my favour. I feel I should hand over my daughter to the right person." Tears roll off his chubby cheeks as he takes a deep breath and continues with what he has to say. "Amyirah has been my only daughter and I haven't been able to guide her the right way. I have always done what she wanted, but it has reached a point whereby I can no longer see her distraction. I know you're probably wondering why me?, I feel you're the right person to bring back my daughter her modesty and respect that she lacks."
Now placing his hands on my hands as throws his major decision. "Ayan I expect you to agree my daughter's hand in marriage." His words felt like a loud scream on my ears as my eyes widen snapping off my hands from his. "Mr. Asad, do you have an idea what you're asking for?." I ask him bluntly.
"Yes Ayaan." As he nods his head, bringing back my hands into his as a form of request.
"You do realise I come from a poor background, secondly thanks to you, I just lost my job. I have a mother and two sisters to look after. How will I fulfill the needs of your daughter? And will your daughter agree to marry me?." words flow out of my mouth like a heavy downpour without a stop of breath.Tapping on my hands calmly as he pulls pieces of paper from his jacket asking me to sign. " What are these?" My eyes widening further in amusement." These are documents stating that one of our villa's belong to you and you're the owner of it from now henceforth. And the second document states that you will now work as a CEO in my company until after my demise which the company will automatically belong to you and amyirah. Incase things don't work out between the two of you leading to a point of divorce, then 50% of the company will belong to you and the other 50% to Amyirah. I hope I have clarified myself and that you will have no objections towards my proposal."
I look at the documents keenly, but something didn't seem right. The decision making part. I look back and forth until I came up with a conclusion. "If you don't mind, I should at least have a word with my mother before making any decisions."
He smiles at me tapping on my shoulders. "That's why I have chosen you for my daughter."Just when I thought I am the master of my thoughts fate takes a new turn. Emotions comes like hands on the wheel of my "car," taking me somewhere different to the place I had expected. The destination may be beautiful, bewitching even, yet I am afraid for it is all new and my heart beats harder.
By the time i got home, night had fallen and enveloped the city in a blanket of darkness. I scurried down the path towards the house, my shoes slapping against the stone steps that led to the front door.
Sneaking into the house as I make my way towards the room and burying myself under the blanket.
