Second Night, Second Pill

*Rory*

We ate for a little bit then decided to go back home. We all piled into Jason's car and he drove me to my house.

"Whoa..." Lola said once we pulled up to the house.

"I had the same reaction when they brought me here too." I laughed. All of them but Gigi look like they have no idea what I meant. "Oh! Right! I didn't mention that I was adopted around two days ago and live with around six other people." I nervously laughed. They all looked a little taken aback. Except for Lenny this time.

"Oh..." Jason trailed off awkwardly.

"Sorry to make things awkward..." I say as I got out.

"We are all pretty awkward here. You're just straightforward." Lola shrugged. That made me feel a little better. I waved and walked into the house. Once I did I was filled with shock and awe.

"Why did you do this?! You won the prank war! It's already over!" I heard Corey shout as he tried to back away from Elton.

"C'mon Corey, kiss it!" Elton shouted, throwing the box with the big spider in it at Corey.

"Elton!" Corey shouted, running away.

"Oh hey Rory." Elton sang once he saw me. He started to pick up the box.

"Elton, being in the orphanage since I was six, I've seen some gnarly ass bugs. A spider will not scare me." I bluff. I'm terrified of spiders!

"Oh... so you won't mind if I do this..." Elton trailed out as he brought out the spider from the box. How can he let that thing crawl on his hand?! I visibly shook. He started to walk closer to me. Fuck this! I screamed as I quickly mapped out a safe way to the stairs.

"You can't run forever Rory!" He shouts from downstairs. I could hear him coming closer though. I wasn't thinking and decided to run into the nearest room.

"Who's there?" I heard Devyn ask. I look around and notice I'm in her and Corey's room. I let out a sigh once I heard Elton walk away.

"Just me!" I call back. She walks out of her bathroom and gives me a confused smile.

"What's going on?" She asked. I sighed and rubbed the back of my neck.

"Elton chased me around with a spider." I explained. She started to laugh.

"It part of his 'final prank' he's going mellow this time." She shrugs. I sigh and nod.

"I think he's gone now, I'll get out of your hair." I smile as I began to walk out.

"Wait Rory," Devyn started, I turned back to hear what she was going to say. "Want to go and eat some lunch with me?" She asked. I tilt my head to the side. "I just... I just kind of want to help you. I'm not saying you have to eat much, but I was just wondering if you wanted to." She sighed. I could use the 'I ate at the mall' excuse, but I's feel bad. But then, if I do eat, I'll get even more fat.

"Where would we go?" I ask her curiously. If I have to eat, I'd want it to be healthy. What am I getting myself into?

"Well... somewhere you're comfortable with. Panera?" She asked after a thought. My mind trailed off to some of the healthy things they have there. I agree and we go downstairs to get Corey.

"Hey babe, we're going to go and get some Panera." Devyn says as she begins to get the car keys from one of the hooks by the walls.

"Okay. Let's go." He said, instantly getting up from his laptop. Then an idea came to mind.

"Hey Corey, can I make a Youtube channel?" I asked as we climbed into the car.

"Sure. You can use my camera for now if you want." He shrugged as he began to drive. "I just want you to make sure you know how mean some people can be online about everything-even things that aren't true." He adds.  "I know." I nod with slight excitement. This is going to be such fun!

Sooner than later we end up at the restaurant and order our food. I got just a salad with a bottle of water. I pick at it for a little bit  before actually taking a bite. I hate the fact that it's so good. 

"So, what'd you and Lenny do?" Corey asked, looking up from his sandwich.

"I got to hang out with a few of his friends-and girlfriend-at the mall." I told him, taking another bite, making my stomach twist. I want to groan in pain but I keep it in, for them.

"Well that seems cool." Devyn said, taking a drink of her soda.

"I also met this guy named Vic. He was amazing. We tried on fancy clothes and didn't buy anything. He's the one that put the hair dying idea into my head." I nodded to Corey. He nods since his mouth was full and I go on, "He was really sweet." I blush. Corey and Devyn look at each other and giggle.

"So... do you like him?" Devyn asks. I took a small bite of lettuce and gave up on eating with a shy nod.

"He asked me to go on a date with him." I smile, trying to avert there newly gaze to my-barely finished-salad.  

"Whoa when!" Devyn asks in excitement. I giggle at her. She's more like and awesome friend to me than a mom and I love it!

"I don't know. We swapped numbers though." I blushed. Both of them cheered for me and we left a little after. It started getting late, so Corey gave me my nightly pill.

"Have a good night Rory." Corey yawned as he went to his own room. It wasn't long until I became really drowsy and fell asleep.

"10... ready or not, here I come!" I heard her shout. I tried my best not to giggle and burrowed myself deeper into the back of the couch. I could hear her footsteps coming closer. I got filled with excitement knowing she was no doubt going to find me.

Then it changed.

All of the lights began to slowly fade. Why? What's going on? Soon all of the excitement faded fast and turned into fear. Fear rising at higher levels with each foot step of hers I heard. No. Why is she after me? What aren't I good enough?! She then appears from nowhere. Her twisted evil smirk having nothing but bad intentions for me.

"Found you piggy."

"No!" I scream myself awake. I'm crying uncontrollably. I bring my knees up to my chest and sob harder. "No... no... please no..." 

"Rory?" I heard what sounded like a sleepy Colby ask. I look up to see him standing in my doorframe. I look up at him with hot tears rolling down my cheeks. Why am I crying? I don't need to be crying this hard. Stop it.

"Are you okay?" He asked me, completely worried. I wiped my face and tried to nod, but I couldn't. He frowns and walked over to my shaking body. I flinch when he gets too close which makes him frown even more. He slowly sits net to me and pulls me into his lap.

"It's alright. Whatever it was, it isn't going to get you now." He said as he cradles me loser, rubbing my back soothingly. Just that made me cry even more. It's not an 'it'. It's a 'she'. He rocks me back and forth whilst whispering calming things into my ear, and I calmed down quickly, oddly beginning to dose off again.

"Do you want me to stay?" He whispered in my ear. I nodded and gripped to his shirt tighter. He nods and lays us down, pulling the blanket over our bodies. I don't know which one I cuddled into more, my duvet, or his chest.
