Chapter #16: The Machine....Again

October Monday, 17th, 2016

Aquarius took the bus to school. Today she really wanted to hide. But, Jessica had other plans.

"You slut!" She walked up to Aquarius and pushed her.

People stopped and watched them.

"What?"

"You were getting all close to James and then you kissed Justin!"

"I didn't kiss him. He kissed me."

"Of course you would say that! You would say anything to save your skin!"

"Who even told you?" Aquarius asked.

"No one. I heard James talking. But you are a liar."

"I'm not." She looked at the people watching. They were whispering.

"Jessica stop it." Justin walked through the people.

"Justin. Why defend her?"

"Because, she's not a liar. I did kiss her. She didn't."

"I think you're a liar too. Sluts stick together." Jessica said.

Justin clenched his fist.

"Why don't you just back off bitch." James walked through.

"What did you call me?"

"Bitch. Now move along. They're not liars or sluts." James said.

Jessica growled under her breath and turned around, whipping her hair in Aquarius's face. Everybody else moved too.

"I almost can't believe that you dated her." James said.

Justin gave him a "shut up" look.

"Go away." Justin told him.

James through his arms in the air and did what he said, and left.

"You okay?" Justin turned to Aquarius.

"I'm...fine." She replied. "Why did you say that?"

"I care about you. So I was hoping I could make things right. But, I guess that might not be good enough."

"Justin....I care about you too but, you can't keep taking the fall for me. You already have a bad rep."

"Yes, but you don't. You don't need one. And I'm not letting my ex ruin your first year here."

"It doesn't matter. I just know we're going to move."

"Aquarius you can't think like that. You can't think of the future. Or the past."

"Those are the only things I can think about! Those are the only times that something happened to me!"

"I know." He said. She hugged him. "I know."

He hugged her back. As they let each other go they heard someone yell her name.

"Aquarius!" It was Hazel.

She ran over to them.

"What did Jessica want? James said some stuff." Hazel asked.

"What she always wants. Me to stay away from Justin."

"Yeah, but this time she called her a liar and a slut. She thought she was getting cozy to James and me."

"Are you kidding me!? She's that stuff."

"Yeah..." Justin said.

Aquarius was about to say something but the bell rang.

"I...I got go." Aquarius stammered.
