TWO DAYS BEFORE TYLER'S VISIT TO THE HOSPITAL.
GEMMA'S P.O.V
I
was staring at the ceiling when I heard my room door open. I looked towards the door and frowned when I saw Jackie.
"I am not interested in hearing you tell me that if I had died I wouldn't be in this pain," I stated quickly then winced as I took in a breath. It felt like someone squeezed my lungs tightly every time I took in a breath.
She frowned. "I have something to tell you."
I raised an eyebrow. "What's that?"
She took in a deep breath. "You remember that party I took you to?"
I nodded slowly and my eyebrows knitted together, where was she going with this?
"You weren't drunk at the party," She announced. "You were drugged."
A gasp left my lips. "W–what?"
She gulped. "I d-drugged you."
A surge of anger rushed through me. "Why did you do it?" I barked at her.
It burnt my throat, but I ignored the feeling. She was a little taken back by the way I spoke to her but she covered up her surprised expression and anger appeared on her face too.
"Because they love you more than me! Especially him!" Even an idiot would know who she was talking about. "Every minute they talk about you. They never once thought about me!"
I frowned, why are most egotistical bitches dumb?
"Jackie, what are you talking about?" I questioned her. "You're the one who got everything."
"I did but that all changed when you came into the picture. Now everything is about you. They prefer you over me!"
I sighed and shook my head. "When you turned 8, mom and dad gave you every toy you asked for but when I turned 7, they gave me nothing. When you turned 9, they took you out to Olive Gardens because you said— and I quote— 'I am a big girl now, big girls go to fancy places' and when I turned 8, they gave me Tuna sandwiches and told me to run off to school.
When you turned 10, you asked them to allow you to go to Justin Bieber's concert and they did, but when I turned 9 and asked them if I could go to Burger King, they told me that I couldn't eat those type of foods because of the braces I had on and mom didn't have time to sit and get everything out of the braces. When you turned 11, you asked them if you could get my room since mine was bigger than yours and so was my closet, and they gave it to you.
When I turned 10, I asked them if I could go to a sleepover, mom said no one had time to worry about my ass. When you turned 12, you asked them for a phone, tablet, laptop and a stereo set, they gave it to you in the colour and brand you wanted. When I turned 11, I asked them for all the Harry Potter books, they asked me if I was stupid and that they had more important things to do.
When you turned 13, you asked for a new wardrobe and you got it. When I turned 12, I asked for a skating board and they told me skating boards were dangerous. When you turned 14, you demanded a birthday party and you got a grand one. When I turned 13, I begged mom and dad to remove my braces, but the day it was supposed to be removed, they were on business trips.
When you turned 15 you asked dad for your own limo and chauffeur and when I turned 14, I got scolded by mom the whole day because I told you that you looked like a hooker in clothes that exposed some of your skin. When you turned 16, you got your drivers license and when I turned 15, I got my glasses and when you turned 17, dad gave you a weekend all by yourself in Hawaii, when I turned 16 I got books."
She was amazed, she was probably understanding everything. "Jackie," I mumbled. "Mom and dad do not love me more than they love you. They realised that they have been neglecting me and they are trying to make up for it. That's what happens when you grow up in a large family."
A sob left her lips. "G-gemma I'm so sorry." She shook her head. "I was so blind to not see it."
I shrugged. "Happens all the time. I have accepted everything that has happened to me. I understand why they hated me. I was there at when the incident happened. Little 8 year old me should have done something to protect my twin sister from dying. I don’t know if they thought I should have stepped in and died. I just don’t know what they expected me to do but I’ve had nightmares ever since that day. They forgot that they went the only ones that lost someone, they forgot that I was there. They’re just trying to make up for all the wrongs they’ve done after that day.”
Sobs wracked her body as she took a step towards me. "Can you find it in yourself you ever forgive me?"
I raised my hand to stop her from coming any closer. Forgive? She has been hurting me for years! I sighed.
"I-i don't know. I'll think about it."
She gave me a genuine smile. "I'll make up for everything."
My heart swelled in happiness but I was still cautious. She said something close to that the night she drugged me.
