you were already questioning accepting the dare by your friends as soon as you stepped into the haunted mansion alone.

you always acted brave but this was actually your biggest fear: the paranormal. you took a deep breath as you walked further inside.

just standing inside made the hairs at the back of your neck rise.

"it's not real." you muttered to yourself as you moved slowly. then you heard it. the footsteps. you steeled yourself, thinking it was the first ghost.

suddenly, someone jumped out at you and you shrieked loudly. it was only after a moment you realised they were screaming alongside you.

you opened your eyes slowly and your gaze fell on the last person you ever expected to see. you fell silent.

jung hoseok.

at a haunted house of all places. this had to be a prank. send you into a haunted house and then plant a hoseok look alike to distract you. funny.

"y-you're not a ghost." he let out slowly and in surprise. "neither are you." you replied just as slowly. "you look like j-hope." you pointed out.

"thank you, i try my best to look as much as myself as possible." he smiled a bit and dimples appeared on his cheeks. your eyes widened. it was him.

"i-" something jumped at the two of you and you both screamed, holding on to each other. hoseok pulled you and ran further inside, away from the ghost.

"wait," you stopped after a moment. "why are you here?" you asked. this was not the way you had hoped to meet your favourite person. "yoongi and namjoon teased me into it." he answered.

then he looked around. "let's keep moving please." his voice came out wary. at that minute something grabbed your leg and you shrieked.

hoseok grabbed you, basically lifting you off your feet for a moment before running again. another ghost appeared from above this time. you both screamed so loud, you were certain your ears will be ringing by the time you got out.

"why did i agree to do this?" you muttered as you and hoseok slowly made your way through the house. "i'm asking myself the same question." he muttered, eyes wandering everywhere.

you squealed a bit when you both stepped into a room full of the creepiest dolls you'd ever seen. unconsciously, you held on to hoseok's arm. he glanced down at you but said nothing.

"i swear to god, if any of them pops out at us..." you groaned, eyeing the inanimate objects. "what will you do?" he questioned, tone curious. "i'd leave so fast you'd start wondering if i was imaginary." you answered and he chuckled a little.

"i hate dolls." you shivered a bit as you glanced at one that looked extremely life-like and felt as though it was staring right at you.

finally you were out of the doll room. "oh my god." you whispered repeatedly. "i can feel it coming." he mumbled, a frown on his face. "doesn't make it any better."

suddenly, you felt a cold hand on your back. you both shrieked and ran off without looking back to see what it was. you slowed down moments later.

"i hate this. i hate this. i hate this." hoseok repeated breathlessly next to you. "we have to get out of here. don't these things have shortcuts?" you glanced around.

he gave you a look. "no they don't. you have to go through the entire course." he replied. you groaned loudly, keeping an eye out for another ghost.

"where is the exit in this stupid thing? i'm about to die here." you grumbled. there was a loud scary scream from behind and you both ran forward in fear, screaming as well.

you wrapped your arms around hoseok's again, sticking closely to him. "i think we're almost at the end." he told you. "i'll only breathe again when we're actually out of here."

he chuckled a bit at that. "how can you even manage to laugh in this horrible place?" you asked. "because you're with me." he replied cheekily.

you halted, causing him to stop walking as well. "but, you don't know me." you said. "yes, but i feel better because i'm not alone. and i find you funny."

"you don't even know my name." you pointed out. hoseok began to walk again, forcing you to move along. "and yet you hold on to me like your life depends on it."

you immediately started to move your arm away then, realising he was in fact right. in another setting, you might have freaked out about being in such close proximity with such a beautiful man you'd only admired on a screen, but the fear had completely wiped any other thought. hoseok stopped you, tightening his grip ever so slightly.

"i was just kidding. i really don't mind." he told you. "what's your name?" he asked softly. you whispered your name and he smiled.

you heard something coming towards you, causing you to shriek. once again, you both ran off, hoseok pulling you along. you only stopped when you couldn't hear the footsteps behind you.

"why do they only show up when i speak?" you mumbled with irritation and hoseok laughed. "maybe they like your voice." he chuckled. "i can't blame them." he added just as you wrinkled your nose at him.

you felt your face go warm. he was subtly dropping compliments again, making you feel flustered. you stared at your feet so he wouldn't see your face.

"oh, there's a door. i think we're at the end." hoseok pointed. you looked up. instead of feeling happy, you held on to him tighter. "that means we're about to meet the scariest ghost."

"ah, why are you being so pessimistic?" he frowned a little. "it's called saving the best for last. i'm sure-"

you weren't looking so you walked right into him. the ghost had its head in its hands. you screamed so loud your throat felt sore.

you wanted to turn around and go back the way you came but hoseok pulled you as he ran around the ghost to the exit.

quickly, he opened the door and you both got out. you gasped for air as soon as you were outside again as if you'd been choking.

"are you okay?" hoseok asked, doubled over next to you. "what did i tell you?" you straightened, catching your breath.

"i guess you're fine then." he placed his hands on his hips. "i am never doing that again, ever." you declared, tucking stray strands of your hair behind your ear. "neither am i."

you heard your name being called and looked behind you to find your friends, heading towards you two. "you did it!"

suddenly, hoseok grabbed you by the wrist and pulled you closer, taking you by surprise. "i have to go." he whispered. your heart was beating loud at the sudden close proximity. glancing behind him, you noticed the rest of the boys coming your way as well.

"are you still going to be here?" he asked. you nodded, still surprised by the closeness even though you were practically stuck to him back inside.

"meet me by the ferris wheel in fifteen." he told you. your eyes went wide. "we won't ride it. we'll just go for a walk, i promise." he glanced behind him.

"i'm not scared of the ride." you narrowed your eyes. "okay, but will you?" he asked. you stared at him for a moment before nodding again, "yes."

"great!" he patted the back of your hand. "i'll see you there!" he let go and started to back away, pulling the mask that had been resting under his chin over his nose and mouth. he waved before turning around and running to the boys.

"who was that?" one of your friends asked when they got to you. "just...someone nice." you smiled. "if you say so. let's go for another ride."

"yeah." you nodded. who knew that embracing your worst fear would bring jung hoseok along? you smiled again as you went along with your friends.

there wasn't a ghost that could scare you away from the ferris wheel.
