Inner Demons

Chapter 8

Rin had been introduced to a few of the people in the 'Sanctuary' as Raptor called it. Over the fews days he had been here, he had been checked over, questioned, met some pretty neat people, and told many times to look out for Angel. From what he could gather, this Angel is the boss or leader of the base and doesn't tolerate rule breakers or strangers.

'Well, I guess it could be worse. I could be dealing with the Vatican right now...' Rin thought as he headed to the dining hall. As he stepped into the dining hall he noticed a girl about the age of 18 or 19. Her long dark purple hair fading into a dark black towards the bottom. Her skin ripples a little as if she might turn into fur at any moment. But the odd thing about her is that she has a purple cat tail with black spots on it, and cat ears that keep twitching as different people talk to her, her tail swishing from side to side with excitement. Since she isn't facing him he cannot see her face yet but she looks absolutely gorgeous. Seeing Raptor sitting across from her made it easy to approach. Rin wore a confident smile as he walked over to the table. Before he even got to say a word, Rin almost backed off when he saw the two males sitting beside Raptor. Both had silver hair but the taller of the two had a shavy beard and wore a long, red trench coat; leaning beside him was a huge broadsword with a skull as the hilt. The smaller one had on a denim trench coat with a red sweat shirt underneath. What really caught Rin's eye was the smaller one's right arm. It was covered in red plates with blue looking skin out from between the plates.

Raptor looked up to see Rin staring, "Oh hey Rin." The girl who was the only one sitting on the table looks at Rin. If he didn't look hard enough he wouldn't have noticed it. The girl smiled a toothy grin, her eyes bright purple, and her pupils were oval like slits. She looks him up and down and she smiles "OH! So YOU'RE Rin?" she asks curiously, her voice a soft purr as her tail twitched like a cat's does when a cat finds a new and exciting toy. . "Rin this young lady is Alice," Raptor said pointing to the cat girl who greeted him with a big smile. "This is Dante," she said gesturing to the red trench coat wearing man who replied with a 'Hello'. The man looked like he was in his 30s. "And that is Dante's partner Nero." Raptor finished pointing to the young male who looked like he had just entered his 20s. Nero didn't look up at Rin but mumbled a small greeting. Alice moved closer to him and smelled the air around him, making her smile even more as she grabbed his hand. "Well then, let me introduce myself, my name is Alice. I am half cat, half demon."

"You mean half terror, half psychopath." Dante joked taking a sip from his coffee. Raptor rolled her eyes at the two, "Sit down and chill awhile Rin, no one bites... Much." Alice smiled even more than she was now, which most would think impossible. "Yeah Rin! You can sit with me!" Alice exclaimed happily as she forcefully pulled Rin towards her and made him sit next to her, her tail wrapping around his abdomen, keeping him in place. "So Rin, how do you like our home?" She asked him excitedly.

Rin struggled with the tail around his waist, "It's pretty cool. I've never seen so many half-breeds in one place before." He admitted looking around at the different tables. All in all there was around 10 other people in the hall at the moment. Though he didn't see the two that helped out with the succubus. "Hey Raptor, where are the twins that helped with that ancient succubus?" He asked earning a 'hm' from Raptor.

"Last I checked they were in their room, refusing to talk to anyone till they helped each other heal." Alice told Rin softly, "They keep to themselves most of the time-"

"Can you blame them though... Alice you were there during the incident. What happened to his family... You know he feels responsible." Raptor interrupted Alice with a stern look on her face that didn't look right on her.

Alice pout and cased her gaze towards the ground, "I didn't mean to! And i apologized about a bazillion times!" Alice sighed, then looks at Rin, "Hey, Kelsey should be getting out of the infirmary today. You should go visit her, she kept asking if you were okay the entire time I was helping take care of her.....she was worried you got hurt while she was knocked out."

"I think I'll see her before I leave. Besides I really don't see why you guys are so scared of this Angel chick. I've been here for a couple of days and not seen him... her?... whatever once. What's so scary about Angel?" Rin asked leaning back with a smug look.

"You haven't seen her yet because she has been busy making sure all the damage that was caused was taken care of." Alice tells Rin gravely, her face turning stern and like stone. "Don't question Angel's leadership. Or why everyone fears her. She is one of a kind. And she will scare your socks off if you meet her. You better pray to your god that you never do." Alice tells him before noticing a male half-breed, her eyes almost turning into hearts as she runs after him. "DARK!!!" She squealed in delight as she swiftly ran after the half-breed, jumping onto his back and hugging him tightly.

Rin looked over at the two then back to the group still at the table. "So... Angel's that scary?" he asked bring the conversation back. Raptor looked towards Dante, "You've known her longer man." She said getting up to get some more food.

Rolling his eyes, Dante leaned forward. "You know how demons can cause nightmares?" Dante asked while Rin nodded. "Well... Angel can cause those demons to have nightmares and no I'm not exaggerating."

Rin looked stunned. 'Woah...' he thought, 'Something tells me I'm going to have to be careful around this person... Nah, who am I kidding. I don't need to worry about that.' Rin shook his head putting away any thoughts he had before looking back up at Dante. "So... What's your guys story?" Rin asked seeing Nero shift closer to Dante. Thinking he said something wrong rin quickly added, "I mean if you want to talk about it, but if you don't it's completely fine." He finished quickly rubbing the back of his head.

Dante rubbed Nero's human arm in reassurance before looking over at Rin. "It's fine kid. Both of us came from a world not much different from yours. Though we will say the demons on ours are a little more problematic. I ran a shop called 'Devil May Cry' that took care of them and Nero here helped out." he finished getting up and grabbing his weapon with Nero following suite. "I'll leave you with this Rin, Don't ask about people's past unless they offer to tell you first." With that Dante walked with Nero out of the dining hall leaving a confused looking Rin sitting alone.
