Inner Demons

Chapter 9

Rin was walking towards the medical center thinking about what Dante had said. 'Other people's past... well that might explain why that Nero guy acted the way he did when I asked about their story though I was more curious about why they seem so close; though they left before I could be more specific.' Rin just shrugged and entered the sliding doors that lead into the medical unit. After greeting a few of the staff members, he started towards Kelsey's room but stopped when he happen to overhear a conversation involving him and Kelsey. Peering around the corner, Rin saw a rather tall person with wavy black hair with the bangs with some streaks dyed red and pulled into a low pony leaving the bangs covering the left half of the figure's face. The person was dressed out in a full black trench coat - 'What is it with people on this base and trench coats?' Rin thought - with what looked like a matching pair of pants and combat boots. From what Rin could tell this person was pale but not sickly or albino. Plus from the corner he could tell there was something up with their eyes. Rin shivered at the aura surrounding the person before listening in on the conversation.

"That's what I'm saying. The girl, Kelsey, managed to destroy an ancient succubus with the help of the boy Rin. Kelsey's stats even show that she was sired by a powerful linage. Though I cannot say which demonic family it was." The medical person finished explaining handing the chart over to the new person.

Scanning over the stats, the black figure smirked then looked back up. "Well that makes sense, the girl might be the one I've been hearing about in the the lower circles of Hell. I'll keep an eye on her. Dismissed." The figure handed the charts back over before the medical personal bowed and walked away. Rin darted away when he noticed the figure look in his direction. The figure's eyes scared him as he rushed to Kelsey's room. 'No way. Fully black eyes... what the heck is up with their irises. They were freaking RED!' Rin thought before bursting into the room. Once he caught his breath, Rin looked up to see Kelsey staring at him with wide eyes and another person he hasn't seen before. This one was definitely female from the curves showing through the tight grey shirt and blue jeans. She had two guns strapped to her thighs with leather holsters. Looking up at her face, Rin saw she had long purple hair with stripes of darker purple going through it; which was pulled back into a loose braid. She had purple cat ears and a long, boney, black tail waving behind her. The girl or dare he say woman looked at him with dark blue eyes. She had many scars covering her arms and had what looked like elbow guards adoring her arms. One stood out on her left cheek as it looked like a warrior's mark.

"You must be Rin." The woman greeted. "My name is Jay. It's nice to meet you." Jay extended her hand which Rin took carefully. Jay pulled her hand back motioning for him to sit across the bed from her.

"Something tells me you ran into Angel before you ran in here." Jay said chuckling earning a shocked look from Rin.

"Wh... How did you know?"

"Most people react that way when that run into her rather then being introduced. Angel does have a very intimidating aura around her but trust me any rumors you have heard are exaggerated a little bit."

Kelsey smiles at Rin. "Jay was just telling me about the rules of the base just in case Angel decides to let me stay." She tells Rin sweetly. "Jay is very nice. Did you meet Alice yet?? She seems like fun!" Kelsey tells Rin as she thinks back on all of the people she has met. Her eyes blazing with the beautiful pink fire that they bring as she talked, her entire aura changing and getting even brighter than before, making the room lighter and smelling of baked apple pie and flowers.

"Yeah, I met Alice in the dining hall. She seems nice if not hyperactive. Plus Raptor introduced a pair named Dante and Nero. I don't know what to think of those two yet..." Rin shrugged looking over at Jay.
