ADELAIDE'S POV
I sat there, my leg bouncing up and down, from being anxious.
"Will you calm down, the jet will be ready soon, they're just putting gas in it." Jane said,
I was still suspicious on why she offered to help me. Out of everyone, Jane, the girl I thought hated my guts, OFFERED to help me.
"I'm sorry that I'm anxious about seeing my dad in San Francisco, with another girl." I sarcastically said.
She laughed,
"I do have a question though." I added.
"What?" She asked innocently,
She has to be plotting something, she wouldn't do this for me. She would only do it, if there's something in it for her.
"Why are you helping me?" I blurted.
"Well, I mean we talked about it with my dad, but we were eleven, so we couldn't. Now we are almost adults, and you helped me out of a dark time with my dad, it's only fair I do the same."
"So, you are only doing this to be fair?"
"I mean, I guess."
No alternative motive? Nothing? Really? I don't believe this little act for one second, I'm still going to be cautious.
"Ms. Gritton, your plane is ready." The pilot said.
"Let's go." Jane said, grabbing my arm, and dragging me towards the plane like a little kid.
We got onto the plane, and I sat down in one of the chairs. They felt like a recliner chair, and I was shocked when the chair turned. Jane must've seen my face, because she started laughing.
"Adelaide?" She said, looking over at me.
"Yeah?" I replied, returning the look.
"I want to apologize."
"For?"
"Myles, you, me, all of it."
"What do you mean?"
"I guess what I'm trying to say is, that I was jealous of you, so during this summer I distanced Myles and I from you."
Other way around Jane.
"And I just feel so bad, because we were all three of us, so close. I mean for goodness sakes, you made that group." She finished,
"It's fine, but one question."
"Hmm?"
"Why were you jealous of me, if anything I was jealous of you."
Stop telling the truth, you're acting weak.
"I was just really jealous that you and Myles were really close because of your past relationship." She said.
Don't say it, don't you dare tell her the truth right now. She's apologizing, let her be the vulnerable one for once.
"Jane, I need to tell you something." I started.
"Ms. Gritton, we are landing." The pilot said, on the intercom.
She pressed a button,
"Okay, thanks." She told the intercom.
She looked back at me.
"What were you saying?" She asked.
"Oh, it wasn't that important." I lied.
"Alright."
