"Incredible!" The Arcane Mage stared in wonder at the flames circling around Jason's hand.
"This is amazing, and you say you've never been able to use magic ever before in your life, correct?" he asked Jason.
Jason nodded, "That's right." Jason stared at the fire, he closed his hand and the flames died out. "Impressive, and you say you just woke up with this new mark on your hand." the Arcane Mage stared at him intently, almost as if he knew Jason was holding back on something.
"Bianca, would you mind going to find my journal. I believe I left it in my quarters."
Bianca got up, "Of course sir, i'll be right back." she turned towards the door and walked out.
"Now Jason, tell me what's on your mind." the Arcane Mage said.
"Arcane Mage..."
"Please I've had enough of hearing that Arcane Mage, I do have a name." The Arcane Mage chuckled, "It's Adaris. Please just call me Adaris." he said.
Jason smiled, he sat down and sighed, "Last night, Kaldrago came to me in my dream. He's the one that gave me the mark. Said something about him being the only way to unlock my abilities."
Adaris looked at him, "So there's more than one of these." he looked down at the mark, he moved towards the bookcase and took out the book about that Dragon Kings. "I'm pretty sure there were never any abilities given to the Dragon Kings." he flipped through the pages.
"I will need to look into this more." he turned to Jason, "In the meantime I think we should find someone to teach how to use your ability." he smirked at Jason, "Being able to use, magic and learning to fight. You're on your way to becoming a Sentinel."
The door opened and Bianca walked in, "My apologies Arcane Mage but I wasn't able to find your journal."
"No worries young lady, take Jason to the Commander." Adaris walked over to his desk, he pulled out a piece of paper and started writing. He handed it to Bianca, "Give him this letter." Bianca took the letter and nodded.
Jason got up, "Jason make sure whenever 'it' happens again you watch out. Kaldrago really has something planned for you."
Jason nodded, Bianca looked at Jason with a confused look. They walked out and started walking away.
"Jason what did the Arcane Mage mean by whenever 'it' happens again?" Bianca asked.
"Nothing, don't worry it was nothing important."
Bianca looked at him with a troubled expression, she didn't know what was wrong but she could tell something was bothering him. "Jason you and me are a team now, you can trust me." she walked in front of him and he almost walked into her.
She stared at him in the eyes, Jason hadn't noticed but her eyes were such a beautiful blue, the way the sun coming from the windows made them sparkle. Jason stepped back and looked down. She seemed sincere, Bianca stepped closer to him.
"I will tell you Bianca, just not now. I don't even understand what is going on anymore." He said.
Bianca looked down, "Alright then, let's get this to the Commander." she turned around and started walking away. What was wrong with her, why was she acting this way. Jason couldn't understand her. He shook his head and drove those thoughts out of his head. An image of Bianca and her ice cold blue eyes popped into his head. Her short blondish hair, the little wrinkles in between her eyebrows whenever she'd frown at him.
Jason was planning on telling her but right now was not a great time. They walked to the Commanders room in silence.
They reached his door, Bianca knocked. They stood there for a while waiting but didn't hear anything. Bianca knocked again. They heard something on the other side. The Commander opened the door, he wasn't in his armor, he had a long brown tunic tied in the middle by a belt which held his sword sheathed to his waist.
"Ah you two! Are you guys finished with the training already?" he asked.
Bianca looked at him, "Sir we've been finished for a while now, its past sundown."
Captain Mooteg looked around, "Wow the time sure does fly when you're having good conversation. Here come in, come in I have someone you guys are going to want to meet." he walked back into the room, Bianca and Jason both walked in behind him. Captain Mooteg walked over to a table in the center of the room. A girl sat there, she looked up from the book she was reading.
She smiled as soon she saw Jason and Bianca, she quickly stood up from her chair. "Jason, Bianca I'd like you guys to meet Mirabelle Ashwood she will be joining your team as the Mage." Mirabelle's smile grew even larger.
Jason looked at her again, she had bright red hair and large bright green eyes. She wore a long brown robe with a belt around her waist. A small dagger hung from the belt, she caught Jason staring and started blushing. Jason looked away quickly slightly flustered.
"Umm its a pleasure to meet you two, I promise I will do my best as the team's Mage." she extended her hand out. Bianca smiled and shook it, "The pleasure is all ours, I finally wont have to be alone with this weirdo anymore." she said.
Jason rolled his eyes, "Ok I am not that weird." he smiled. He shook Mirabelle's hand, "Trust me I'm actually a pretty normal guy." Mirabelle smiled at him. She looked at his hand, wonder and fascination took over her face, "Heavens is that it, is that the mark?" she grabbed his hand and looked at it. "Fascinating. Mind if I try something?" she asked.
Jason looked confused, he hesitantly nodded. She held his hand and closed her eyes, her hands grew warm and Jason felt a tingling feeling in his hand. Mirabelle collapsed.
Jason caught her before she hit the ground, "Holy crap Jason what happened!!"
"I don't know!! She just fell." Jason leaned her on his knee and looked at her. "Hey Mirabelle. You ok? Mirabelle?"
She slowly started opening her eyes, she looked up at Jason. She could see the worry in his face, the way his brow furrowed up and his dark brown eyes reflected the light from the torches and candles. She reached up and touched his face, "My you're a pretty one."
She blinked a few times and looked around, her eyes widened, "Oh my did I say that out loud." her face lit up as red as a bright ripe tomato. Jason helped her up, "Are you ok?" Jason asked her.
She nodded, "What was it that you were trying to do Miss Ashwood." Captain Mooteg asked.
"I was trying to see if his mark really couldn't be removed, I even used up a lot of my energy." she smiled weakly. "That is amazing." The look of amazement never leaving her eyes.
"Mirabelle we need to ask a favor of you." Bianca moved forward, looking at Mirabelle in the eyes. She had a strong and stern look, Mirabelle straightened up and looked at her. "We need you to train Jason in order to use his new abilities. I can explain with more detail later but what do you say?"
Mirabelle looked at Jason, she knew from the moment she had heard about him that she needed to meet him. His raggedy and loose clothes, long reddish hair. A quick glance and nothing special but the closer you look you see the strength he carries himself with, shoulders back, chest up, that look of confidence. The dark brown eyes that share a story, that demand attention. He was everything she had expected. She smiled, "It would be my honor to teach him."
She extended her hand out to him, "Sir Jason you have found yourself a teacher."
He shook her hand and smiled. He was going to master this new skill and use it against Kaldrago, he might think that he had him under his control but Jason was going to prove him wrong. He was going to be the one to kill him.
