Katerina Kolosov's POV

"Oh Kat, you look beautiful," my mum gushed excitedly and a little tearfully as she took in the sight of me in my wedding dress.

"I better be," I grumbled good-naturedly and my mum huffed, shooting me an exasperated smile.

"Well, you always are," she said patronisingly before reaching out to trace the side of my face with her thumb. "I can't believe this day is coming," her lower lip trembled as she pressed her lips tight.

"Don't cry mum," I murmur awkwardly and unsure as to how to comfort her. Any efforts in doing so would lead to me in tears as well and I didn't need to cry on my wedding day.

The day that I was going to be married to Raphael was finally here.

I knew many brides would find themselves feeling ridiculously nervous or experience cold feet for making a life changing decision but for me? I had zero doubts or fears.

Why? Because I knew I was marrying the One.

Despite Raphael's occasional overbearing and domineering personality, he got me. We clicked and I found that I could truly be myself around him even if I was in my bitchiest moods. Example - The Pasta Argument.

And I was probably the only one who could deal with his clueless ass. But through all his faults and tiny habits that annoyed me a little (sometimes), I loved him and I knew I always will.

Because where else would I find someone who understood me, had the patience of a saint and most importantly, loved and accepted everything about me? I knew I wasn't the easiest person to deal with.

Hence, the reason why the number of people invited to the wedding was far and few. Our guests mostly consisted of our families and the Henderson's as well as a few extended family members which mostly came from Raphael's side. The guest list amounted to about fifty people which I was sincerely and happily hoping for.

I really didn't need any drama on my wedding day. It had been such a pain to sit down and discuss seating plans and thankfully, my mother had manoeuvred everything nicely.

The fewer people in attendance, the lower the chance a fight or an argument would start.

"Here Mrs K," Lexi offered a tissue from behind me where she had been slowly rearranging the bouquet. Obviously, I had appointed Lexi to be my maid of honour. I couldn't ever think of giving that title to anyone else other than my best friend.

My mother took the tissue gratefully before reaching out to hold my hands. "Oh Kat, it just seemed like yesterday when you were just a child bargaining with me for candy."

Tightening my hands, I gave her a small smile, feeling the familiar sting behind my eyes that showed I was getting close to tears.

"I'll always be around, and we're going to live less than thirty minutes away," I answered quietly and my mother nodded, her head jerking. "Yes, I'm becoming quite silly. Alright, I'll leave you be and check on your siblings," she laughed tearfully before pulling me into a hug.
"I'm so proud of you, Kat."

She beamed sunnily and with that she was gone and I quickly swept away the stray tear before turning back to the mirror disbelievingly. "I can't believe it Lexi, I'm getting married," I breathed out.
