Brendon Kingston's POV

The children were bickering again.

Not that it could be avoided. With Cayden's penchant for teasing his sister mercilessly, there was bound to be fights and quarrels. Of course, my youngest daughter Andrea was the exception.

Andrea was just quiet and reserved. Even for a nine-year-old. When Cayden had been that age, he had been causing mischief. When Isabella had been nine, she had been throwing tantrums and fits, which Sydney and I definitely didn't entertain.

I didn't know how to describe it, Andrea was different. Born into a family full of outspoken individuals, Andrea was the only soft-spoken one besides me. She liked to stay indoors and hardly interacted with anyone else other than family.

Sydney liked to claim that Andrea was a mini-me in terms of personality and habits. And secretly, I liked to think that too.

It allowed me to have a special bond with her, a bond that no one else shared. She had inherited all of my traits, the grey eyes, the dark curls, the angular cheekbones, she had even inherited my serious nature.

I loved all my children equally but I could relate even more to my youngest. Not even Sydney could connect with her on the level that I could.

"LEAVE HER OUT OF THIS!"

"ANDY, YOU SAW HER TAKE IT, DIDN'T YOU?"

"DON'T SHOUT AT ANDY, YOU CLOT!"

I rubbed my throbbing head, the screeches and shouts from my first two children often gave me headaches. However, both Cayden and Isabella were a conundrum.

They could sling hurtful verbal insults at each other, even going as far to start a physical fight between themselves but they were fiercely protective of each other. Cayden had even gotten in trouble in school for starting a fight with someone due to he or she making Isabella cry.

It was odd.

But I had to appreciate that their protective sides were extended towards Andrea. Especially Andrea. Despite her shy and reserved nature, her older siblings never took advantage of it. In fact, they were more protective of her and treated her differently.

And I was glad and relieved for that due to Andrea's personality.

Now, a screech pierced through the air and I sighed as I got to my feet to intervene. Of course, Sydney just had to find Sarah to spend time with Mason and Rhett of all days.

Silently, I entered the living room to see Isabella and Cayden on opposite sides of the coffee table, both had snarls on their faces as they regarded each other angrily.

I knew Cayden was more hot-tempered more than ever due to his sixteenth birthday edging closer. Anything would set him off. Especially when Isabella had the tendency to goad him. He would be reaching maturity and would shift on that day.

Already, my son was taller than Sydney and once more, I marvelled at how fast time seemed to pass.

My eyes landed on Andrea who was sitting on the sofa calmly with her legs crossed as she watched her siblings.

"Dad," Cayden greeted awkwardly as both he and Isabella took a step back once they caught sight of me.

Inwardly, I smirked. Despite the years that have passed, both of them still had a healthy dose of fear and respect for me, hence, hardly disobeying me. But with Sydney, both of them could argue with her from dawn to dusk.
