Summary:
It is 2596. In the land of America gained from the Mexican Cession and small parts of the Louisiana Purchase, things such as freckles, pimples, and scars are symbols of imperfection. When every girl and boy turns 16, they have a chance to be Flawless--and it is not an opportunity one would dare refuse. Many have gone through this and returned perfect; all their transgressions are forgotten and all their wrongdoings are pardoned. Sounds too good to be true, doesn't it? Jaye Gale, native of Topeka, Kansas, has gone through her life dreading her Removal. No one ever comes back flawed. The machines are perfect themselves. So why is she so nervous? The Removal can remove her wine-colored birthmark that streaks her face like a blood moon. But somehow...Jaye knows that removing her birthmark would be a dangerous thing, for nothing can tamper with fate. Not even technology. Emile Taylor, a popular girl from Henderson, Nevada, has never known a single imperfection. No freckles pepper her face; no scars blemish her body. She is perfect, yet she still wants. She wonders if there is a life outside of communicating with the few others in Henderson who are like her. But after her boyfriend is killed from the machines for an unknown reason, Emile runs away, and she finds that physical anomalies are nothing compared to the ones deep within. Two girls. One mission. To run far, far away from the Society, who hunger for their lives.Author: medievalmaide715

Review: Two girls go on the run to escape the society. They meet because of similar situations. Both girls have very little depth to them. There are many complaints but here are a few. This book is mostly about survival and how they survive isn't realistic. While both girls are running away they for some reason can't find out a to fish or make a fire. When they get together it seems that they some how know everything. Then a dog attacks one of the girls and is blinded by the other girl. This dog becomes loyal and protective of both girls. Which would never happen because they blinded the dog in one eye. The last parts were interesting but made very little sense. Mostly just because we don't know a lot about the history of this country. Which made the motives of characters hard to understand because we don't know what made them into that. The book as a whole was ok. The author is planing on rewriting.
