Summary:
Natasha: I’m a girl who believes in science and facts. Not fate. Not destiny. Or dreams that will never come true. I’m definitely not the kind of girl who meets a cute boy on a crowded New York City street and falls in love with him. Not when my family is twelve hours away from being deported to Jamaica. Falling in love with him won’t be my story.

Daniel: I’ve always been the good son, the good student, living up to my parents’ high expectations. Never the poet. Or the dreamer. But when I see her, I forget about all that. Something about Natasha makes me think that fate has something much more extraordinary in store—for both of us.

The Universe: Every moment in our lives has brought us to this single moment. A million futures lie before us. Which one will come true?

Review: The Sun is also a star starts out with Natasha trying to find out a way to avoid deportation. Then Daniel trying avoid becoming what his parents want him to be. Both characters meet completely by fate. The story is moved along with each new thing that  happens. I think this was done well enough but some point of views were not needed.  In the relationship of Natasha and Daniel it does start out kind of stalker-ish. But this book is marketed as a romance that happens in less than 12 hours. If the reader takes this book as what it is a romance with talks about race, immigration, and deportation. The creepiness of Daniel going after Natasha is put on the backburner by how sweet and heartbreaking their relationship is. Also Daniel boy you got a fine booty now to the more serious stuff. Race is talked about with Natasha being a Jamaican immigrant and Daniel Korean American. This plays a part in how Natasha and Daniel feel in America. Also how people view them as a couple. By the way I'm all for some Jamaican and Korean American babies. Now to Natasha and Daniel as characters. Natasha is very much a non-believer in fate but is very much into science. Daniel is the poet that believes in fate and love at first sight. This dynamic plays throughout the book. Natasha tells scientific bits and Daniel with his philosophical telling of love. Overall this book was a fast read packed with a cheesy romance.
