Summary: Blaze's whole childhood was a lie. It didn't happen, more like couldn't happen where she lives. Down in the Sulits, all the slaves are living in poverty. Their abilities hold no power to the officers of Kratos, who watch them day and night, equipped with red uniforms and golden whips, ready to strike if necessary. But something strange is going on. With the first spring taking place, officers are tense while riots begin to break out in various parts of the village. Not only that, but a terrorist group who seeks bloodshed is right around the corner. With Blaze's best friend and his family, they can only hope to survive another year as slaves.

I reviewed parts 1-15.

Review: The writing style is very flowery and descriptive. The first few chapters were hard to read because descriptions were used heavily. In the chapters I reviewed the story was only just being set up. Blaze's backstory was very interesting to read about. Slavery was a main theme in this book because Blaze is a slave. The way the author described the lifes of slaves and how they think was done masterfully. The dynamic of power was hard to read about because of how the officers treated the slaves as less then human. Another thing about Blaze and this world was they have powers. I would have liked see more time spent on the powers themselves and how they came into that world. Overall the chapters I read were very well written and I like to see more of the plot developed.
