Kamina and Sesshomaru pulled away some.

"You know Inuyasha's here, right?" She asked.   Sesshomaru sighed.

" So that's what I've been sensing since I got here." He confessed. Kamina giggled as they walked into the woods.  She would have liked to  thank Kikyo, but the village was asleep by now.  So she led Sesshomaru past the trees as they talked.

"  How has it been all these years?"  Sesshomaru asked after some time.  He gave a slight squeeze to Kaminas hand. She touched the leaves on a nearby tree,  deep in thought. The drops from previous rainfalls glistened with the light of the moon.

"I learned a lot." She replied after some time.   "People are as delicate as the smallest things.  You can't force the person, otherwise their heart will darken. And they would shatter." Kamian spoke.

Sesshomaru watched her, the saddest gleam in her eyes.

"I think it was like that with you sometimes." She admitted.  Sesshomaru looked up.  "Everyone wanted you to be the perfect lord, after Inutaisho.  They pushed you, and laid heavy burdens on your shoulder. " She continued.  "Even I did it.  Maybe that's why you left." She finished.

Sesshomaru let her words hang in the air until the wind blew them away.  "You were never a burden.  I left, because I couldn't handle it all.  I didn't want to be like my father. It's hard to explain. " He sighed.

Kamina nodded. "I don't hold it against me.  In a way, I abandoned my father.  I stopped searching for my mother after some time. But it was for the best. " She spoke again. Turning to Sesshomaru , she smiled softly. "I got my best friend back."

Sesshomaru smiled, for the first time in a while, and touched her cheek.  Gently, he stoked it with his thumb.

"  I really don't deserve someone like you in my life.  But I'm grateful." He confessed.  Kamina's smiled brightened.  As if they were kids again, she punched his arm playfully.

"I know. You gotta love me." She laughed, mimicking her voice from years ago.  Sesshomaru chuckled as he thumped her forehead.

        "  Yes, i do."

The two of them laughed for the rest of the night, up until dawn, talking about what they had missed together all these years. Finally the sun started to rise, and the two of them had returned to that spot in the field.

        "Kami." Sesshomaru said.

        "Yes Sesshy?" She asked back.

Sesshomaru took a moment to speak again. "You know what I'm going to say." He said in a low voice.

Kamina looked at him.  He didnt meet her gaze, only looked off at the distance. She squeezed his hand. "Yes. I know you have to go."

"Come with me then." Sesshomaru told her.

        "I can't."

"Why?" He asked in disbelief. This time, it was  Kamina who didn't meet his gaze.

"I just can't, Sesshomaru.  "  She was barely able to say.

Sesshomaru let go of her hand. " Alright." He said in his low voice again. It wasn't anger in his tone, but pain. He held his hand out as the portal formed.

"Please." Kamina told him, taking hold of his hand. "Try to understand."

Sesshomaru looked at her.  Kamina dropped her head and looked down. "I have something important."
