It's been two years since Buttercup left. A lot has happened in those two years, but of course it's not hard to remember your first crush and your best friend. Butch and Buttercup still think of each other every single day. Buttercup hasn't been in a relationship, thinking what's the point in one. Butch has gotten over the fact Buttercup left, but he hopes their friendship is still there. We all hope fate has a way to bring these two back together again.

                       Butch:
"No way, seriously?" I asked surprisingly, "The great Brick finally decides to get married? I think I see pigs flying outside!" I laughed at Brick. Brick, Blossom, Boomer, and Bubbles left three years ago to go to a better school in California. A lot has happened in those three years. Brick and Blossom were together when they left, they moved into an apartment together. It was all good for a year until they had a huge fight. I don't know much about it, but he flew back to stay with me for a while. Let me tell you it was complete hell. Everyday he was depressed to go anything, I would try to talk to him, but he would just give me a nod, a shrug, or not even answer at all.
I was getting sick of it so I told him to tell me about what happened, and I wasn't taking no for an answer. He explained everything to me, he said it's been going on for a while now but he was getting scared. "Scared of what?" I asked him taking a couple of beers for us. He took one and opened the can and continued, "Scared of losing her." I didn't understand that at all. Scared of losing her? Where is this coming from? "We were going out that day, and a criminal was hiding in an alleyway. We heard gunshots and that's when I felt a force push me to the ground. It took me several minutes to realize that Blossom pushed me on the ground and was now fighting the criminal. I saw blood on myself but it wasn't mine, it was Blossom's. It was like a beast came out of me and started to move Blossom away from the criminal so I could make him pay for hurting her."
Brick paused drinking his beer, "After he was unconscious, I looked at Blossom to see if she was alright. She wasn't, she was on the floor cradling her stomach, turns out the bullet was coated with chemical X so it went inside her, hurting her. I took her to the professor, who was 3 hours away from us, but with my super speed it took 10 minutes for me to reach him. He saw Blossom and instantly took her to the medical lab he had. Even though the professor was very ill, he help Blossom so I'm very thankful. As I was sitting in front of the lab, I was thinking this wouldn't have happened if I just took the hit. I started to get mad at Blossom, at the criminal, and mostly me."
There was a couple of minutes of silence when Brick broke off. I went to through the empty beer cans in the recycling. When I sat back down I looked at Brick's appearance. He looked like he hasn't slept in the past month, which may have been the case. His eyes were bloodshot, he had dark circles under them, and his skin was sickly pale. "Later the professor came out looking so tired. I asked if she was alright, he said yes and instant relief flooded through me, but anger was still there. I told the professor to lay down since he needed rest, and he patted my back and said that Blossom is lucky to have a great boyfriend and walked off to his room. I kept thinking of his words and I thought otherwise. How am I a great boyfriend? What did I do, I let Blossom hurt herself. I walked in and saw Blossom peacefully sleeping. Later after Blossom woke up and I carried her back to our apartment after she was doing well, I started to distance myself away from her," I looked at Brick with a glare, I have a lot of things to say about this, "I know, I know, it was a horrible move. I get it, even I wasn't proud of myself, but could you really blame me. I was terrified that she would get hurt because of me again. So I distanced myself, and then a few weeks she started to notice and then one thing led to another. Now here I am." He finished his third bottle of beer now.
Getting up to throw it away, I stopped his grabbing his beer, hit his head with it and pushing him on the couch. "Seriously? This is my older brother Brick? A douche bag who starts to distance himself from his girlfriend because of what 'he's scared to let her get hurt because of him'," I state using my fingers as quotations, "Brick, she would have done that with anyone too! She was born to save a city, she's used to getting hurt! Hell we also hurt them! We were bad guys until we grew up and started to get feelings! Quit being selfish Brick! She loves you and wouldn't want you to get hurt, and to repay her you just hurt her again! Good going bro, you get the worst boyfriend award." I said sarcastically, "Look Brick, I get you want to protect her. There are so many other ways to do that. I mean seriously, being here right now isn't protecting her. It's protecting you. So I suggest you fly back where you came from, fix things, and leave me alone." I said jokingly.
With that for the first time since he's came here, Brick finally smiled. "Who are you and since when have you been a love expert?" He said smiling. I smiled back, "Forever." He rolled his eyes then asked, "Hey so how are Katie and you? You are finally going out with her." When he asked I flinched. "Yeah well the thing is, every since Buttercup left I wasn't being myself and Katie was feeling more depressed than usual. She took me to the side one day and told me that it wasn't working out. Whenever we kiss it doesn't feel like anything but a kiss. I told her I would try harder and she said it's not about trying, it's about how you feel. She said something about loving her through the mind but not the heart and then she gave me one last kiss and hug then left. I have no clue what she meant about loving through the mind and heart." I said sighing.
Brick looked at me and said, "You'll understand when you fall in love." "I did fall in love! I loved her, I even told her." I exclaimed. They keep saying I didn't love her but I did. "Did you miss her when she left? Did you find your heartbreaking?" Brick asked me. I gave it some thought, "Well on the first day I did, but I didn't feel my heart breaking. When Buttercup left, I felt half of me leave with her. We had true friendship going on. I really missed her, I still do." I said. Brick looked at me with a confused face, I asked him why he was looking at me like that.
He just told me he felt bad for buttercup, and how I was dense. Rude and after everything I did for that loser. "Buttercup was living with us for a few days actually." Brick said grabbing my attention. "She said she was going to live there until she found a place of her own. She did and she lives a few miles away from us now. She's taking care of the professor and she finished her year of college, so she works now." He finished, basically saying she started a new life. I was happy yet also sad, does she still remember me? I was hoping she still would.
The next morning I was in an empty apartment with a note. 'Thanks for everything. I decided to fix everything between Blossom and I, hope life goes great for you. See you soon. ~ Brick' I rolled my eyes and threw the note away. A year later, I had a phone call. I found out that the professor had passed away. It was late December and the planes were jacked up because of the snow and cold. By the time I got to California, the funeral was over, I visited the professors grave and gave my condolences to Blossom and Bubbles. I didn't see Buttercup though, I was hoping I would. I returned back a week later, and returned to my job. My brother's suggested I moved to California. I've been thinking about it more and more.
It's been a year and then another phone call came from Brick and I decided after their wedding I would move into California. So now here I am, at the airport with my suitcase. Going to start a new life in California, but mostly to find my long lost best friend.
