Chapter 8: Mirror Mirror

[Port] "Alright ladies and gentlemen. It seems we've come to the final bout of the team battles!"
[Oobleck] "that's right! And what a fight it should be! With team DMNG from Haven academy facing team PUCE from Shade!"
[Port] "now, without a moments waste, let's get back to the battle at hand!"

Dan, Mirror, Nul and Gwenn, on the frozen landscape, each have their weapons drawn, or not, in the case of Nul who simply stands with his hands at his side, seemingly off guard but without any noticeable weak points in his stance.

On the opposite side of the icy field, standing just in front of a savannah-like area, is team PUCE, consisting of Emric Euca, a boy with different shades of green making up his entire wardrobe. From his dark green hoodie and jade cargo pants, to his pale green hair, emerald eyes and his long multi-shaded, almost bamboo-like staff that he held upright, he truly blends in with the half of the arena selected for them. Next is Caramel Bright, a girl toting dual pistols with brown hair and amber/dark blonde streaks through it wearing brown jean shorts, a yellow crop top, a brown safari jacket and a fashionable light brown sun hat. To her left is Umber Oakwood; a meerkat Faunus girl with dyed pink hair, a pair of oversized tonfa at her side, wearing a black undershirt, a relatively fancy, white jacket with black accents, a light pink scarf, long, black pants and black and pink combat boots. Next to her is their team leader; a dark skinned girl called Phaest Red with her ruby hair tied in a long ponytail. She enters the battle wearing a red, gold and white Chinese gi, black goggles resting atop her head and a Sheng Biao swinging in her hands.

[Port] "I, can't quite put my finger on it. But something about that team... really resonates with me."
[Oobleck] "I must say that I don't agree with you my friend. ...moving on. Let's finally begin the final match!"

As the aura levels of each competitor appears on the massive screens, the teams run off to take their positions. Emric immediately sprints off into the tall grass, much to the confusion of many of the civilian spectators and Gwenn remains behind with her bow in hand as the two teams rush to meet each other.

Nul and Phaest are the first to meet, with Phaest sending her rope dart directly towards Nul who manages to teleport at the last second, reappearing behind the red head. Much to Nuls assumed surprise, he's unable to get a hit off as Phaest brings her weapon darting back at them, causing Nul to dodge to the side and allow a gap to form between the two. At the same time, Dan and Mirror face off against Caramel.

[Caramel] "aw shucks, you two are gonna team up against lil' old me?"

Dan and Mirror glance at each other warily before shifting their gazes back to their opponent.

[Mirror] "I'd go after the other one but... he kinda ran away."
[Caramel] "heh, it's fine. I'm more than enough to handle you two."
[Dan] "we'll see."

The talking is over and Dan charges towards her, his war hammer ready to be swung at full force while Caramel aims her twin handguns at him and fires. Just before the bullets can reach their intended target, Mirror appears in front of his brother, deflecting the bullets with his shield before suddenly vanishing again.

[Caramel] "wha-?!"

Swinging his weapon overhead, it slams into the ground as Caramel leaps back, obliterating the dry dirt beneath its weight.

[Caramel] "how can you even lift something that heavy!?"
[Mirror] "gotcha!"

From behind his target, Mirror aims his wrist gun at the girls back and fires a blue blast that flings her in Dans direction. Dan is about to land what would very possibly be the finishing blow but it's prevented by a rope dart tying itself around Caramels waist, pulling her away from her opponent.
