The Dam square was crowded and even though you were only standing a few metres away from Madame Tussauds, you could barely see it. You liked Amsterdam though. You liked the canals, you liked the small streets leading to who knew where and you liked the people, although most of them were probably tourists just like you.
"I don't know about you, but I think it's time to move on." Kol crossed his arms over his chest. "That queue to visit the Anne Frank house is not getting shorter and since you forbid me to compel them to get us to the very front of it, I don't think we're gonna be able to do that one." He curled his lips up into a smirk. "Besides, we probably can't visit all the places we want to see if we stay too long here." He shrugged his shoulders.
"We've been here for barely five days!" You shook your head. "I can't help it that you get bored this easily. I thought this was my trip? I thought this was you showing me the world? What if I like it here?" You shrugged your shoulders and for a moment Kol didn't say anything.
"I don't mind staying here. I have an eternal life to visit the rest of Europe. You on the other hand, you might have less time to complete that bucket list of yours." It was a low blow and he knew it. He had offered you countless times to turn you, to give you a long life to do everything you wanted.
You had been the one who kept on refusing. You didn't want to live forever. You didn't want to have countless days to do what you wanted. You liked the pressure, you liked the time slowly catching up with you. Somehow you had the feeling that it gave everything you did and everything you loved more meaning.
Kol had limitedless time. He could never say someone how important they were by sharing a few days, or weeks, or years with them. His time was not a present. He had too much of it to be able to actually give it away.
But you? You had probably only about seventy more years to live, if you would be lucky. And in those seventy years you had to do everything you wanted to do. And here you were, giving a few of your months, a few of your years, to Kol. "Okay, we're going somewhere else then. So, we've had Venice, Paris, Amsterdam...What's next?"
Kol wrapped an arm loosely around your shoulders and he raised his eyebrows. "Didn't you just say that this was your trip and your valuable time?" He winked and you rolled your eyes in response. "Shouldn't you be saying where we're going then?"
You tapped the tip of his nose. "I know absolutely nothing about Europe. Actually, this whole trip has not even been my idea. You were the one compelling my teachers to let me graduate a year early. You were the one convincing my parents that this was a good idea. And you are the one paying for everything with money that comes from a place I don't even want to know about. When you think about it, the idea is pretty damn crazy!"
"There is no one as crazy as we are, that's why we're best friends." This time Kol was the one to tap your nose. "And therefore I am taking you to a crazy place." He paused for a moment. "What would you think about visiting my dear old uncle Vlad?"
Your lips curled up into a smile. "Sounds pretty exciting."
