A/N: Oh my gosh you guys 5k reads!!!! Thank you so much, I can hardly believe this is real!!! And just a heads up, Samantha is coming in at the end of episode one, after everything in Union Station, literally right before the events of episode two. Also, I included the layout of the Bus that I used for reference while writing this chapter in case you needed it 😄

I made it to the airfield in good time, partly because I decided to channel Grant in my driving again. And lo and behold, once I reached the airfield, I found an absolutely gigantic plane.

I couldn't help shaking my head as I drove my bike up the lowered ramp. When Grant had said "we have a plane", I'd been imagining a Quinjet or something. This was a whole other level.

The cargo bay already had one standard SHIELD car in it, clearly with space for another. Ahead of me, I could see glass door sectioning off what looked like a full sciencey lab space, and to one side of the cargo bay, an actual spiral staircase led up to a balcony. I could see another door up there, leading who knew where, but clearly whatever this long term assignment might be, someone at SHIELD had chosen to give it impressive power and priority.

I took a deep breath as I stopped my bike in the open space of the cargo bay, looking down to drop the kickstand and take off my helmet. When I looked up again, I found Grant standing at the railing on the balcony, staring down at me with a smug little half-smirk. I shook my head again, but grinned.

"You can't park there," he said.

"What? Why not?"

"Because the team leader parks his car there."

"Great, and who is that again?"

Grant's mouth pulled up, his half-smile growing. I raised an eyebrow at him, but he just shrugged.

"You'll see. He's on his way back here now. We're wheels up in ten to go check out an 0-8-4."

I hummed, but started moving my bike. Grant pushed off the balcony railing to finally come say hello to me, but before he could so much as reach the stairs, I heard a pair of voices shout my name in chorus.

"SAMANTHA!"

I looked up just in time to see none other than Fitz and Simmons bodily shove Grant out of the way, racing past him and down the stairs to meet me. My heart leapt in my chest, and I threw my arms out wide to catch them both as they came running in for a tackle-hug.

"Hi! Oh my god, I can't believe you guys are here!"

"Neither can we!" chimed Simmons. Fitz nodded beside her as we finally pulled apart after a few bone-crushing seconds.

"Agent Ward told us another Specialist was coming to join the team, but we didn't know it'd be you!"

"I guess it's a good thing I didn't spend time looking for you guys when I got back to the Hub today," I said with a little laugh. They both nodded immediately.

"We wouldn't have been there. We've been here for two days now."

"And you'll never believe what we did yesterday. We finished a working prototype of the Night Night gun!"

"Fitz! We're not calling it that!"

My jaw dropped and I focused on Fitz, even as Grant came to stand behind the two of them with his hands on his hips.

"You got the Night Night gun working?" I asked.

Fitz nodded and smiled. "Agent Ward used it to take down somebody in the middle of Union Station yesterday. It worked perfectly to neutralize the unstable serum coursing through his body, and even better, left him unconscious but otherwise perfectly fine."
