Now We're Getting Somewhere

The hall was crowded, most of the seats had been taken up. Gumball spotted LSP and Turtle Prince gossiping, about who, he wondered. He saw Hotdog Prince sitting next to Flame Prince, who was looking around nervously. Even Ice Queen sat, surrounded by guards. Not surprising, Gumball thought with a smile. “Ah, Prince Gumball!” Doctor Prince called, walking towards him. Many heads turned in his direction as the name slipped out, loud and clear. “I trust you’re feeling better?” He asked, slipping his hands into the pockets of his lab coat. Feeling better... feeling better... Gumball thought, I must answer fast! “Y-Yes, I’m doing well.” Doctor Prince nodded and turned to walk back. Gumball looked around, it seemed everyone was here. No representatives from the Nightosphere, but that was fine. He knew Marshall would have his back, no matter what. Hopefully, he thought, feeling worse.

“Is this everyone?” He asked, sitting at the head of the table. Many looked around, and nodded. “Why, if I may ask,” Breakfast Prince said, raising his hand. “Have you called us here, Prince Gumball? Your maid didn’t tell us any reason.” Gumball sighed and sat up straight and tall. “I didn’t provide her with a reason, my apologies.” He put on a smile and continued, “But I’m glad you all came anyways.” There was a low mumble of chatter, but it died down in a few moments. “I have gathered you here today to discuss a flaw in our ways.” The prince started again, resting his hands in his lap. “A flaw that if corrected, can improve the world.” More chatter. Flaws were rarely noticed in Aaa, and when they were, they were hardly taken lightly. Silence. It seemed to leak on for hours. “Well?” Lumpy Space Prince called out from the opposite end, “Spit it out already, PG!” Impatient, smug, and irritating, Gumball thought and laughed silently to himself, LSP in three words. He took a deep breath, the silence and the stares did nothing to help him. “I believe that we need to install...” He paused, feeling his heart beat faster with every pair of eyes that looked at him, “Gay rights into Aaa.”

The silence was quickly broken, many voices started speaking, some even shouting. Gumball could clearly hear Ice Queen shouting “What? Why?!” The words had finally come out. Ironic, he thought. “Silence!” The guards called, pounding their fists onto the table. The chatter dissipated after a few moments, then the unnerving silence settled in again. “How is that a flaw? I don’t see anything wrong with what we currently—“ Flame Prince started to speak, but Gumball cut him off. “There are most likely many people who are, in fact, homosexuals but can’t live their lives in truth because of this lack of rights.” He nodded as he spoke, wearing a straight face. “Isn’t that what we, as leaders, are supposed to do? Help our people?” The royals began mumbling to one another again, some with loud but not understandable tones. “I don’t agree with this.” Ice Queen said, looking up. “I think we’re fine now. No one’s ever brought up the issue, and I don’t think there is one.” The guards repositioned their grip on their weapons, but didn’t launch. Gumball frowned, but held back his negative emotions. “Perhaps later in the years, we will eventually come across a...” He paused, almost scared to speak the words. He nodded to himself, this is the time, he thought. “... a queer ruler. Who are we to say they can’t be with their own gender.” There was more talking, disagreement. Gumball cleared his throat loudly and continued. “As long as a child is born under the royal name, would that not be alright? He or she can still rule, only living a truth.” He felt relieved as he saw a few princes nod, agreeing. Breakfast Prince raised his hand high up into the air. “How would the bearer of the child be decided?” He must’ve assumed I was talking about gay princes, Gumball thought. “As we see suitors already, I don’t understand why we wouldn’t choose the same way. The prince,” He paused, “Or princess would simply choose a suitor. If they choose to impregnate the female using technology as opposed to the traditional way, then we would do that. Quite simple.” He smiled, feeling sure of himself. More princes agreed, he even noticed Ice Queen nod her head slightly. Flame Prince shook his head, and looked up. “How can a faggot lead a kingdom? It doesn’t seem natural.” Gumball pursed his lips as he used the word faggot. Such a cruel word, he thought. “Secondly,” The fiery prince continued, “It would give the people a bad reputation. Kids would be raised by the royal’s words all wrong.” He pretended to brush back long hair and check his nails. “Our children should wear frilly dresses, they’d all look so cute!” Gumball groaned and rolled his eyes, then quickly realised how childish he must’ve looked. “Flame Prince, those are stereotypes. Do you honestly think that’s how...” He paused. How what, we acted? Gumball thought carefully. “You’re being ridiculous.” He grinned slightly, feeling power rise up in him. “If you really do think gay men would act feminine, then you’re really saying women couldn’t lead their own kingdom.”

Those were the words. Yells broke out, almost all directed at Flame Prince. He almost seemed to cower as people beat him with words. Gumball laughed quietly, folding his hands neatly in his lap. The rants went on for a solid ten minutes before Gumball raised his voice and yelled for silence. The crowd of royals obeyed. “Flame Prince.” He said with a slight smirk, “Do you have any further issues with the subject?” Flame Prince blushed and shook his head, lowering his gaze to the floor. Gumball looked around at the others, then spoke again. “Does anyone else have any issues?” No one seemed to raise their hand. Some hesitated, but didn’t do anything. He nodded and smiled, “Good, then it’s settled. We’ll—“ He was cut off from Lumpy Space Prince. “Nothin’ against the idea, Gumball,” He started, “But where’d the idea even come from?”

I hope you enjoyed! More to come later! If you can, leave a like or comment! Thanks, it helps alot!
