Wendy's POV

Hook was asleep when I got ready to go. I was wearing new clothes, and my shoes were much quieter than bare feet.

Before I went, I reached under my bed and pulled out the small box I stole from the kitchens. Hopefully, they wouldn't notice. I turned to face the mirror, holding it in my hands. I could do this. I had to. If I didn't, I wouldn't be able to face Peter in a fight.

Taking a deep breath, I thrust a hand into my chest, fingers gripping my heart, and pulled it out. It hurt, but I gritted my teeth and did it anyway.

I put the glowing heart inside the box, and locked the lid. I hid the box under my bed, finally thinking clearly. I stood up, and turned to the doorway. Hook was standing right outside. Clearly, he'd seen everything. I pushed past him, and began to run. No doubt he'd have the whole crew after me, but I had to get to Peter.

I'd figured out what was on his boots, he'd told me about it once. It was dreamshade, and one touch of it could kill you.

Peter's POV

I couldn't believe it. How could I be such an idiot? Of course they would try to turn her against me any way they could, but it was my own stupid fault for letting them. I never should've listened to Felix. Now I had to find a new plan.

For now, I went to bed. I was mentally exhausted and my face still hurt from Wendy's slap. Not to mention I felt awful. She didn't love me and it was my fault. Tomorrow, I would go back and explain everything to her. Then I would banish Blackbeard from the island forever. He deserved it for taking my Wendy bird.

I fell asleep the minute my head hit the pillow. Unfortunately, it didn't last very long. I was awakened in the middle of the night by the yells of the lost boys and shouts of the pirates. They were fighting.

I jumped up right as Felix burst inside, his hair messy and his clothes a little rumpled. I raised my eyebrows at him.

"You got a girl I don't know about?"

"Peter," he gasped, ignoring me, "she's here!"

There was no question as to who he meant. I tugged on a pair of old boots- my regular ones would take too long, and ran outside with Felix right behind me.

The first thing I saw was Wendy fighting Blackbeard. Wondering what he was doing here, I dashed over to help her, but before I could take two steps, another pirate stepped in front of me, sword drawn.

Captain Hook.

I growled, and drew my own sword. I had to get to Wendy.

The captain and I began to fight, and there was no doubt about it, he was good. Years of pirating had served his skills with a sword very well.

But I was good too.

I blocked and jabbed, all the while keeping my eye on Wendy.

"You could live a thousand years, and never deserve that girl," he hisses, trying to stab under my arms.

I focus back on Hook, and slash my sword through the air, leaving a gash on his arm. I'm surprised when he remains motionless, staring at something I can't see. Suddenly, the whole camp is silent. I turn, following his gaze, and time stops.

Wendy is staggering backwards, a knife in her chest, Blackbeard standing in front of her. I can't move. Can't breath. I stumble towards her. She falls into my arms.

There's a loneliness that only exists in one's mind. The loneliest moment in someone's life is when they are watching their whole world fall apart and all they can do is stare blankly. And it's happening to me.
