Rack City
Finally comin' home, it was a little after six by my guess? Maybe seven, I don't know. My phone died about three quarters of the way home so I'm sure Chas is up by now but I noticed CJ's rover still parked in my driveway so he must not have gotten back to the house yet.
Wasting no time, I jogged right up the white carpeted stairs and went to the first door on the left which was our room. The blankets were thrown off and partially on the floor but there was no Chas in bed... I should have chained her to the bed so she wouldn't wander off. She better not have taken more of her meds and pass out in the backyard or headed somewhere outside the house, I don't put that past her.
Goin' back down the stairs, she wasn't on the couch and the TV wasn't on. "Chas? Baby where are you at?" I called out and my voice echoed throughout the house so she should be able to hear me just fine but there was no instant reply. "Chastity?!" I called out even louder as I walked the few steps to get to the kitchen. Everything was left the same as when I left; the two bowls on the counter with spoons in them and the pan from last night was still in the sink. I opened the fridge to find none of the food I left for her touched and that raised a lot of red flags because she's starving when she wakes up.
"Chastity!" I yelled as I slammed the fridge door, taking my eyes to the hook but her keys were left there below mine so what the fuck? I was gonna go check the backyard but I caught glimpse of the rug pulled back in the hallway and the hatch open. "I know damn well your ass is not down there." I said as I approached to find the light on. Continuing down the stairs and looked right to the shelf with the test weed should be and sure enough it was gone. My eyes scanning around the rest of the room, jars were opened, some pills had spilled on the ground but nothing was touched in the pots- on the floor with eyes that were wide open, bloodshot and pupils so dilated, there were no brown irises or even whites in her eyes.
"What the fuck did you do..." I trailed off as I was waving my hand in front of her eyes but she didn't try to follow or anything. Her eyes weren't even looking at me, just stuck staring straight up past me and it was really fucking creepy. I've been around people in their episodes of shit from drugs but she might as well have died with her eyes open. Placing my hand flat on her chest, I wasn't sure if I felt her heart beating but her breathing was real slow and shallow. I moved my hand up to her neck and pressed two fingers deep into the pit of where her neck and jaw connect. This time I felt a weak pulse but I didn't know what to do. If I take her into the hospital they gonna ask what she's on and I can't say what she took and in what combination. Then they gonna ask where she got this and a whole bunch of other questions- okay. I'm gonna get CJ over here and maybe he'll know what to do or have some kind of idea.
Leaving her down there, I ran back up the stairs to go to the kitchen phone and call up CJ. This is probably the first time since buying the phone that I've actually used it. Dialing CJ's number, I had the speaker on and went right back down to the basement, turning on the second set of lights so I could get a better view-
"Who the fuck is this?"
"Wow, what a way to answer the phone, nigga." I said. "Real shit, get over to my house now. I don't care where you are, if you walkin' get an Uber and I'll pay or whatever- just get over here." She was still just laying there perfectly still and that made me wonder how long she had been like this? Was she even blinking? If she wasn't wouldn't her eyes be watering? I need a doctor- ain't Vanity's neighbor in med school- right now not the time to try to find doctor outside the ER.
"Aight, I'll be there in a few." Hanging up the phone, I set it down on the back of one of my stoves and just looked at her. She finally blinked and that made me take a slight step back because it wasn't even like a normal blink. Until CJ gets here, I'm just gonna start picking up the pills that were scattered on the floor and just toss 'em, not even worth tryin' to save. I opened the oven door and grabbed one of the larger empty pots I had kept in there.
