It has been several months since Gilbert Blythe had left Avonlea. Anne had constantly wished that he return, for she was confused about her feelings for him. No boy had every paid attention to her the way Gilbert did.Anne constantly denied her feeling for, she had swore to never fall for a boy. To her it was a foolish thing, she was independent and would never settle for a man.
*A few days later*
Diana: Anne I have exciting news
Diana:. Rumors are circling around town that Gilbert Blythe is set to return today.
Anne: oh Diana that is indeed spectacular news. Perhaps we should inform ruby for,she should know.
Diana: oh ruby is the one who told me. she is ecstatic about his return
Later that day Gilbert had arrived at the school, except he wasn't alone
