As Anne and Diana approached Gilbert's Aunt's house Diana squeezed Anne's hand. This was a reminder that she was here for Anne. No matter what. Diana was feeling her own guilt for not realizing what was going on with Anne. Diana felt terrible about what happened. So coming here with Anne today Diana was hoping to somehow make it up to her bosom friend.
*Anne knocks on the door to Aunt Cordelia's house*
Anne: Greetings Miss, we are here to see Gilbert Blythe.
Aunt Cordelia: well you must be the girl Gilbert won't stop talking about. Come in dears, I'll put the tea on for you girls.
Anne felt a warm fuzzy feeling throughout her entire body knowing that Gilbert talked highly of her.
Anne: When I found out your name was Cordelia I almost lost it. What a marvelous name for what I'm sure is a marvelous woman.
Aunt Cordelia: Why thank you. Well I do have unfortunate news for the two of you. Gilbert seemed to have the same idea as you. He's on his way to Avonlea nowAnne felt her heart fall for she had envisioned multiple ways the too would greet each other. Picturing every romance novel on the way across and how it turned into an epic love story. Letting the reality sink in hurt her.
Anne: well I guess great minds think alike. Speaking of which you mentioned Gilbert spoke of me. Did he perhaps mention that we are tied for most intelligent in the class
Aunt Cordelia: That did come up
Aunt Cordelia recalled the conversation that the two of them had where Gilbert talked about how bright and beautiful she was and how everything about her lit up a room.
Aunt Cordelia: he spoke very highly of you Anne. I haven't seen him speak with a genuine smile since his mom had passed. It seemed like his whole face lit up. He suddenly believed there was love and that his future was brighter than he ever imagined. So thank you Anne was letting me see that side of his again.
Anne, Diana and Cordelia spoke to all hours of the night and shared stories, some happy and some sad but it was a night that Anne would never forget. As much as Anne enjoyed her stay she was never so happy to return home in the morning.
OMG YOU GUYS 10K ON THIS STORY. I seriously never would have expected so much success on my crappy story. I really don't say it enough but thank you! All of you. Every view, vote, comment puts a huge smile on my face💓💓.
