A/N: I have no idea where I'm going with this camping thing XD

Chapter 15

Avi pulls out of Kirstie's driveway in the four-wheel-drive he'd borrowed from Kevin for the trip. Kevin had two cars at this point so he didn't mind and a four-wheel-drive was perfect for going up into the mountains, in fact Avi wouldn't want to risk his car. He usually took his motor-bike but at this point he wasn't ready to let Kirstie on the back of it, and he didn't know if he ever would be, even when she was constantly asking him if she could.
      "So no motorbike then?"
"Kirst with the size of that bag you brought there was never a chance of the motorbike. We're only going for the weekend," he chuckles.
     "I like to be prepared."
"There's a difference between prepared and packed for two months," he jokes.
"I like that you think there'd be anywhere near enough stuff in there for two months," she rolls her eyes. "So what music are we listening to today? Are you going to educate me in what your style? A little folk music?"
"How about you sing for me?" he asks with a small smirk, having not even turned the radio on at all yet, only partially because he didn't know how to.
Kirstie scoffs, "Didn't you say it was a two hour drive? I can't sing for that long and I can't be in a car for that long with no sound."
"Is talking not sound?" Avi asks as he pulls on to the highway.
Kirstie shrugs, "I guess it is, but background music is still nice."
"Then be my guest, I already tried figuring out the radio before I even left my house," he laughs.
"I could play my phone out loud?" she suggests.
"Nope," Avi immediately says, "I know what you listen to and I'm not putting up with that for two hours.
"Do you have your phone then? Wait, what am I asking, of course you don't."
Avi chuckles, "It's in the boot, I only bring it for emergencies, not that it matters because Cell reception out there is terrible. I'll let you know before we get to the place where it cuts out so you send any last messages you might require," he jokes to Kirstie given scowl.
"You're so funny," she tells him with no emotion in her voice.
"I'm hilarious and you know it."

With the mountains having been in view for a while now, Kirstie couldn't stops staring at them. The look of awe on her face made Avi smile.
"They're beautiful huh?" he asks after a long silence that had enveloped them, bar the radio.
Kirstie just nods.
Avi pulls into a carpark at the bottom of the ranges, it was a proper type carpark and Kirstie hadn't been expecting that.
"Now it's a bit of a hike up, we can't take the car all the way. This is why I said pack light. But do you want me to carry your bag and you carry mine?" Avi suggests.
"Is there no way to drive up?" Kirstie asks with concern.
"There is, but it's another hour's drive at least to get around the bottom of the mountains. Or a 20 minute walk through the middle."
"I didn't wear shoes for hiking," she pouts.
"Kirst I told you about all of this-"
"And do you really want to leave Kevin's car in the wilderness?"
Avi frowns and points out the window, "We are literally in a patrolled carpark, that's a guard out there."
Kirstie barely glances out the window, "I really don't want to walk up the mountain Avi."
Avi groans, pressing his forehead against the steering wheel. So far this hadn't been fun for him. Kirstie had figured out the radio after about 20 minutes, and then found her station. She thought it was funny, on big joke, but he seriously hates pop. He has a headache and right now he just wanted the fresh air that the walk up the mountain would give him. He didn't think that was too much to ask, but the 'pop princess' wanted everything her way.
"Please can we just go up here?" he asks as calmly as he can.
"Why is it such a big deal to drive around?"
Avi takes a deep calming breath, "Because your shoes are fine, the walk is 20 minutes and barely even upwards, a slight incline at best."
Kirstie could tell he was getting agitated. So she figured she'd better just go up the stupid mountain. She didn't want to make him mad, especially when he was doing this to help her with her song writing. Plus he'd said he'd carry her bag, she didn't know how big his was but it had to be nothing on hers. So she opens the car door and gets out.
Avi lets out a sigh of relief and gets out of the car too. They meet at the boot and it's then that Avi notices the shoes that Kirstie's wearing, they weren't as practical as he'd thought, they were the hidden heel type. He'd glanced at her feet when she'd mentioned her shoes, from the angle he'd been at he'd seen laces and though okay fine. She might slip and die and that thought was stuck in his head.
"Kirstie, do you have any other shoes in your bag? Like flat shoes maybe?"
She looks down at the shoes she was wearing, "You just said they fine."
"Well, who knows shoes better, you or me? You clearly, honestly Kirstie I didn't realise they had heels in them, I don't want you to slip and die."
She reels back a little, "Whoa, that's extreme Avi. I won't slip and die I walk just as well in heels as any shoe, me bringing up my shoes before was me trying to get out of walking because I'm lazy."
"Oh, okay then," he pops open the boot, glad they had that sorted. He wasn't even mad that she'd semi lied to him, he was just glad that she wasn't going to hurt herself, at least he hoped not, there were still so many other things she could do, by accident. She could still slip, didn't matter what she had on her feet. She could get bitten by a bug, or worse a snake, they were out there too, damn near gave him a heart attack once. She could fall into a river and get leeches, even just touch damp ground at get leeches. What if she ate something she shouldn't? There are so many bad berries and leaves out there and she knew how she was about her leaves, he didn't eat them at all: ever, so he didn't have to worry. And what if she got eaten by a bear? As far as he knew there were none around here, but what if?
Remind him why the fuck he'd brought her camping?

A/N: So I'm thinking the camping might go over a few chapters, we'll see how many ideas I have, or if you have any let me know: I'd like to make the events of this camping trip as funny as possible because why not right? :D
