T@avikaplan: '...Repost off Instagram...' "My girl @kirstin"

EXCLUSIVE: 'Avi Kaplan has finally joined the twenty-first century and hit social media with a bang! Today his first posts on both Instagram and Twitter confirming the rumoured relationship between him and Kirstin Maldonado.'

Esther slams her laptop shut and is on her phone in seconds. She checks Instagram, one post. She checks Twitter, one tweet and the account is verified, but how so quickly? She is calling Avi only a moment later, she knows he won't pick up, but she has to try and try again, she also has Kirstin's number so that'd be the next best bet.
Kirstin it is, she doesn't pick up the first time, second times the charm.
     "Hi Kirstin, it's Esther."
"Oh yeah, I know, I have your number saved," she giggles. "I tried talking to him by the way."
     "This isn't about that."
Kirstie can hear the frustration in Esther's voice. It makes her glance at the older couple in the room with her, they'd been chatting and getting along before Esther called, they're also Esther's parents so Kirstie hopes this conversation won't make her visibly uncomfortable. "What's up?"
"How in the hell did you convince him to get Twitter and Instagram?"
     "Who?" Kirstie frowns.
     "Avi!"
Kirstie cracks up, "Good one, what's this really about?"
"Kirstie I don't like you enough to joke with you."
"Avi doesn't have either of them," she spoke with bitterness, thinking someone doesn't like you and then actually having them tell you they don't are two very different things. "Case and point today I asked him if I could film him playing during sound check and he said, and I quote: 'Sure as long as you don't put it on Instantgram."
"Then I definitely need to talk to him. Are you with him right now?" Esther asks in a rush.
"No," Kirstie looks around the shabby dressing room anyway, just her and his parents there. "He's doing backdoor."
"How long has he been out there?"
"He left about five minutes ago."
"Shit, no... fine, I'll just deal with it."
"What's happening?" Kirstie is worrying now too. But the other end of the line is dead before she can even finish her sentence. "Oh," she frowns at her phone. How does Esther think she is going to deal with it? Deal with what? She opens the Instagram app and search's Avi Kaplan, she assumes most are fan accounts, but she selects the first one on the list anyway. There is a photo of her she has never seen before; it's new because it's from earlier today, but that's not the point. This photo has a lot of likes and thousands of comments already; she doesn't look at them because she knows most of them will be negative.
Kirstie does suppose this is in true Avi fashion, the photo is not of himself, but as far as she knows they are still keeping their relationship a secret. Esther said something about Twitter too, so she checks that next.
     Verified.
He's got that little blue tick, he's got one tweet and one tick. That irks Kirstie, it took her forever to get verified, but that's not the point. The point is that Avi doesn't like social media, so obviously Avi didn't do this.
"Kirstie!" Avi bounds through the door out of breath. She presses her phone to her chest to hide it, she notes that his Mom jumped, seen only out of the corner of her eye.
     "Finished already?"
"No," he shakes his head. "Someone said I chirped."
She is confused for a moment before asking, "Tweeted?"
Avi groans at his lack of knowledge in this department, that's why he came to Kirstie, "Yeah, that, but I didn't."
"Yeah I know, mostly based off the fact that you just said chirped," she lets that sit for a beat. "Here," she hands him her phone with Twitter still open, "I also knew it couldn't have been you because you've preached privacy and then this is a picture of me captioned 'my girl'," she folds her arms as he takes it in. She ushers him out of the room as she can see him becoming upset.
"I'm sorry," he sighs, his eyes are teary as they meet hers.
"Hey, what, no," Kirstie moves closer, "You didn't do anything wrong Avi."
"But I did, you've wanted to tell everyone about us for a while, but I wouldn't let you, and now someone pretending to be me has just gone and told everyone. It should have been you, not this asshole."
Kirstie nods, "You're right, it should have been me, but I was actually happy keeping the secret. Sure I wanted to tell everyone, tweet about how amazing and thoughtful you are, but at the same time it was nice being just us," she shrugs.
"How many people have seen it?"
"A lot," she holds her hand out for her phone, and when it's back safely in her grasp she seeks out the inevitable, "Hashtag Kavi is trending."
     "What's trending mean?"
"You don't know what trending means?" Her tone is angry but mostly bemused.
"In the general sense, yes, but what about this context?"
"It means a lot a lot of people are tweeting and posting about us. I don't know whether it's positive or negative though, like 'yay Kavi' or if they're using it ironically."
"Is now a bad time to ask what a Kavi is?" Avi looks just as sheepish as he does concerned, it's almost enough to make Kirstie laugh.
     "It's our ship name."
"Our sh-what?" His face is screwed up in confusion.
"Sometimes I forget how hidden from the world you are and then we have conversations like this," she gestures between them.
     "I'm sorry."
"No, it's okay, I'll explain it later. Go back to your fans, I'll look into this situation." That is a lie because she doesn't need to, Esther is on the case.

A/N: I suppose the question remains the same, who is doing this?
