The following day I was leaving the studio office when I heard my name being called. The street was noisy so I didn't register it until the second time but when it did my heart jumped thinking of whos voice it was.
I looked across the street and saw Shawn's arm on the edge of the open window and sunglasses on, the setting sun was shining directly on him. I stopped dead in my tracks not expecting him at all.
Motionless I stood on the sidewalk as people brushed by me as he smiled and waved. Slowly I stepped forward shaking my head, I wasn't sure why he was here picking me up but I was happy he was.
After traffic was cleared I ran over and met him at the open window. "What the hell are you doing here?" I asked breathlessly.
He grinned under his glasses and it was a sin to me. "Picking you up. I figured you'd like a ride home rather than the train."
Motionless I stood looking at him as he looked like a stud and I was unable to control the grin on my lips before I bit into it.
"You getting in?" He asked as I still hadn't said anything yet. Looking to the passenger seat I smiled and then walked around the front of the car with my things.
"You're ridiculous," I laughed as I put on my seatbelt. "Don't you have better things to be doing than picking me up."
He laughed waiting for my seatbelt to click. "No."
With the click of the belt, we looked up at one another before Shawn turned up the music just a little and began to pull out.
"How was work?" He asked.
I shrugged. "Same as always."
Shawn didn't take that answer and rolled his head to me. "Okay, but like explain what is always the same."
Smiling I told him about my day and he listened as he drove me home.
........:::::::::::::......
The following day I'd been thinking more than usual about Shawn, as he'd asked me to come out with him and his friends but I had to turned him down. It was a Thursday, two days before Shawn was going back to work, and I had work early the following day so I'd said was unable to go. Shawn didn't give me a hard time but he did clearly imply he was disappointed and left the invitation open.
On the way home on the bus, I'd gone over and over how I could go to the party but it just seemed so unmanageable. It would be eleven by the time I got home and I'd still need to get ready as I felt this was a big night out. However, the moment I hit the pavement about three blocks from my apartment I felt a rush and the decision to go to the party was made. My feet began to move in a rush and when I got inside my apartment I was throwing my bags off and rushing to my closet. It was half an hour later with about ten outfit changes when I knew I was running out of time to make it for the bus. Once done my makeup it was much to late so I dreadfully ordered a cab.
