"So how's Florida?" I asked into the phone as I was staying up to talk to Shawn. It was late but I didn't mind.

"Nice and warm. You'll be wishing you were here in a month or two."

"Don't," I laughed. "Don't you dare even mention the word winter."

Shawn grew hushed over the phone. "Winter," he finally breathed as I chuckled into the phone.

"You're an awful person sometimes."

He laughed into his phone. "Didn't stop you from saying you missed seeing me five minutes ago."

I gawked. "Uh-uh well, that was before you decide to get rude."

Shawn only laughed. "Maybe you could come see me?"

Suddenly I tensed up, from uncertainty and from excitement. Both emotions were fighting with one another and I wasn't really sure what to do. "What?" I breathed.

I heard him shuffle on the other end of the phone. "Yeah, you could come out for a few days if you wanted? I still have the show but -,"

I sat for a moment thinking but I knew my answer already. "Uh, I really can't Shawn."

"Oh okay," he said and it sounded like he was disappointed.

"It's just I'm about to start a new semester, and well, I can't exactly afford to just fly down and see you. I wish I could but I just I can't."

"Oh well if you can't come because you can't afford it, it's all covered?" Suddenly I felt uncomfortable.

"You'd just have to work out when you can come."

"Uh..." I trailed. "I don't know about that?"

"Why?

"I don't know I just don't feel-" I trailed off not saying anything because I didn't want to explain to Shawn that the prospect of him paying for me to come down and see him made me very uncomfortable. "I don't know," I finally finished.

"You don't have to come down, but I would be nice."

"Yeah, it would." I smiled lightly, but then it faded away. I felt hesitant and unsure of what to do.

Suddenly I was toying with the idea in my head. I knew I shouldn't,  I didn't want to take advantage of the situation, but Shawn was offering? The longer I sat on the line the more I warmed to the idea. "Are you really sure that's okay with you Shawn? I mean that's a lot of money I'm sure? You really don't mind doing that?"

Shawn laughed. "Not to sound arrogant, but flying you down is nothing for me."

I sat on the line for a moment in silence.

"Come. Just give me the dates that work for you and we'll get you down here."

My heart was beating a little faster as I needed to make a choice. "No, no. I shouldn't," I finally answered before the line was dead silence for a few moments.
