The next day started early for Demi. André didn't get the chance to see his son last night even though he's been begging and pleading. But the nurses had rules they needed to follow. There wasn't much he could do about it. They promised him he'd get the chance to see him in the morning, though. After André left, Demi was alone with her thoughts again and she certainly didn't like that. She couldn't remember the last time she felt this triggered, but she knew she needed to stay strong for her son.
Demi texted Nick after André was gone, letting him know that she appreciated him being there all day and that she hoped they could see each other soon. She wouldn't mind him stopping by the next day, but she knew it would be tough with André around.
André was at the hospital pretty early. Who could blame him? He wanted to see his son. Last night, they informed the nurse about their baby's name and they put a cute piece of paper on the incubator with his name on it before they introduced their son to their friends and family as Theodore Wyatt Hamann. Demi joined André as they headed down the corridor and linked her arm in his. She could feel him shaking a little bit and pressed a gentle kiss to his shoulder.
The model took a deep breath as they stood in front of the door and he had to go through the same procedure as Demi. "You go alone." Demi said and smiled at André. "This is your time with your son. I had mine last night. You should have the chance to bond with him on your own." she said and André licked his lips.
"Thank you." he whispered, his chin quivering a little as he leaned in and kissed her lips gently before walking in. Demi stayed at the window for a while, watching as the young man sat down. The nurse opened the little round lid and checked on Theo before she left the room and André was alone.
Demi saw him slowly reaching in and touching Theo's hand. The singer couldn't help but start crying. André's shoulders were shaking and his head hung low. She knew he was sobbing. She knew he would suffer a lot the day Theo would die. Of course she was going to suffer as well. She was scared of how she'd deal with it. Even though the doctor told them about what would happen the next few days, she'd never be prepared for it. How could you be prepared for you own child's death?
André was talking to their son and Demi licked her lips. She couldn't stand seeing him like that so she decided to head to the cafeteria. Thank god she could at least walk on her own again, even though the steps still hurt a little. But she was told walking would be good. The singer ordered a coffee and sat down, taking her phone out. She checked twitter and realized that her fans were speculating where she was the last two days. It was so unlike Demi to not post on Twitter or Instagram. She knew she had to get a statement ready because people would eventually find out.
The singer took a deep breath and send out a quick tweet to let everyone know what's happening.
"It's been a tough 24 hours for André and me. Please respect our privacy. We're gonna update you as soon as possible. I love you, guys." was all she tweeted and she knew her fans are gonna go crazy. Her notifications went off immediately and she decided to log off for a while.
She called Phil, asking about a statement. He told her he'd come over and they could talk about it some more. She was glad her manager was so supportive in a time like this. He's always been there for her and she appreciated him so much. Phil would make sure she was safe and okay. And she knew she would need him if things turned out for the worst.
Demi sipped her coffee and looked out of the window, seeing people passing by. Some were visitors, some were patients that decided to get out for a while to get some fresh air and as she let her gaze wander she saw a young couple walking out with a carrier. The young man looked down on his baby and smiled so brightly that it broke Demi's heard because she knew André would never get to experience that with Theo.
