It's been a rough few months since the divorce. The media was all over the story, trying to spread rumors now that Demi and Nick are broken up. According to the tabloids, Demi had at least three new relationships and Nick was about to head to rehab. All of that wasn't true of course. Nick tried to stay out of the public for a while until things calmed down which was taking longer than he expected. Him and Demi just released an official statement and never actually got into detail about why they got divorced. But of course there was gossip. One magazine said Demi was having a long term affair with someone; the other published an article about Nick cheating on her with more than one woman.

While Demi was seen out and about every now and then, Nick preferred to stay out of the limelight for as long as possible. He even shut off his phone. For the last few weeks, he hasn't even logged in to Twitter or Instagram. He didn't wanna read or see anything about his life online. The singer focused on moving on and the last thing he needed was possibly seeing Demi with someone else walking down Hollywood Boulevard. The pure thought of Demi dating again broke his heart and made him feel sick. But he knew that eventually, it would happen again. When it comes to himself, he wasn't sure if he'd ever wanna date again.

Even though Nick tried to find a place for himself, he was still living with Joe. The older Brother was currently on tour with DNCE who are still extremely successful so Nick had the place to himself. Leaving him alone with his thoughts was probably not the best idea, though. His alcohol use was getting out of hand slowly and so it was only natural that he sat on the couch, drinking one beer after the other. The alcohol was slowly getting to his head and in this situation, Joe would've told him to go to bed already, but his drunk self was too hurt and frustrated and he eventually made a decision he'd regret later.

Nick got up from the couch and grabbed his phone. He could barely stand straight and he knew driving a car right now could end badly. So he called a cab and 10 minutes later, he told the driver where to take him. As soon as they arrived at the destination, Nick paid him and stumbled out of the car and up the familiar driveway. He was at his house...or Demi's house. His eyes wandered up to the door. He checked out the windows, remembering the day they bought it. Demi fell in love with this place as soon as they pulled up with their car. Within 10 minutes, they decided it was the perfect place for them. A place they'd live a happy life in, a place they'd watch their children grow up in. All of that seemed so far away from him right now.

The singer checked the door that led to the backyard. This neighborhood was mostly celebrities and it was really quiet and kind of hard to find, so they never locked the door. Only at night or when they'd leave for a few days. Lucky for him, it was open. He walked down the little path, stumbling over his own feet every now and then. The light coming from the living room told him that Demi was still up. His heart was pounding and he wasn't sure what he was doing, but he couldn't bring himself to stop.

Nick sneaked up to the window and looked inside. He could see Demi sitting on the couch, looking at her phone. She smiled a little and all Nick could do was hope that it wasn't because of another guy. The thought alone made him sad. He wanted to walk around a little more so he could knock, but accidentally knocked over a planter, causing Demi to look up. She noticed him standing outside in the backyard and force a little before she took a deep breath and got up, opening the sliding door. "What the actual fuck are you doing here?" she asked and her voice cold and angry.

Nick tried to find his balance again and looked at her. "I-I wanted to talk to you." he slurred. Demi noticed how drunk he was and clenched her teeth. Usually Nick would've never approached her drunk. He always tried to stay sober around her or just drink one or two beer so it wouldn't get out of control, but apparently he didn't really care about it that much anymore.
