"Mira!" James called. "You're playing with that doll again. Mom will scold you if she caught you again." He warned.

Mira flashed her puppy eyes at James.

He sighed, "Just don't let mom catch you, okay?"

The doll they bought was a classic glass doll meant to be displayed so their mom insisted on just putting it in their display cabinet. She had bought Mira a new doll to play with, but Mira didn't like it as much as she liked her Bangsie.

She beamed at him, "Okay!" And then she went upstairs to her bedroom.

"James's so nice, right, Bangsie? Harry would have told mom if he's the one who saw us." Mira told her doll. She has named her doll 'Bangsie' simply because she love her doll's bangs.

"Mira!" She heard her brother call from downstairs.

"Mom and dad are back!"

"Okay, I'm coming!" Mira called back.

"I'll leave here for a while, okay, Bangsie..." She said to the doll as she placed her gently on her bed.

But then her bracelet caught on the doll's gown and the belt went off.

"Mira?" Mira heard her mom call.

"Coming!" She said as she tried to attach the belt. She did it poorly.

"Sorry, Bangsie, I'll properly arrange it when I come back, okay?" She said as she rushed downstairs.

-

When she came back, she was surprised to see that the belt was properly arranged.

This was not the only time something like this happened.

On James’s birthday, after eating outside, Mira played with Bangsie. Mira removed Bangsie's hair accessories so she could comb her hair, but then she couldn't put them back after playing. She decided then that she’ll fix her hair in the morning since it was already very late then.

But when she picked her up in the morning, she realized all her hair accessories were already in place. She thought then that her mom fixed them. During breakfast, she was waiting for her to mention it but it never came. She just assumed then that it was her brother who fixed her doll.

One other time, Mira played with Bangsie and removed her gown so she could wear the dress Mira had made herself for the doll. After playing, she dressed Bangsie again with her gown and return her in their display cabinet. But when her mom saw Bangsie, she commented that she thought her gown’s layers were arranged wrong. James had looked at her then and she bit her lip. She told herself she’ll arrange it after dinner. But then she forgot and only had a chance in the morning. But then when she looked at Bangsie everything was already perfect.

"You're a weird doll." Mira said, looking at her doll.

-

That night, Mira played with Bangsie again.

James came to her room and reminded her to return the doll to their display cabinet once she's done.

"Or mom will get angry." James warned.

"I won't forget. Good night!" She replied.

But after a while Mira fell asleep without arranging her things.

This was not good, she thought. So she got up intending to go downstairs. She was surprised when the lights went on.

“You are alive!” Mira said looking at Bangsie.

She got up and hastily went to her brother, never minding the noise she was making throughout the house.

She dragged him back to her room shouting, “Bangsie is moving! She’s alive!” to her bewildered brother.

But when they got to her room, Bangsie was unmoving, lying on the floor.

James smiled understandingly to his sister.

“Mira, you were just dreaming.” He said.

“But...” Mira tried to say.

“Go to sleep now, it’s way past your bedtime. I’ll return Bangsie downstairs.” He said as he picked the doll up and assisted his sister up her bed.

“But Bangsie...” Mira tried once more as James tucked her in.

“Is also tired, so both of you rest for tonight, okay?” James said soothingly.

He proceeded to exit the room and go downstairs.

The next day, Mira woke up very early, really, she barely slept. She at once, went downstairs and took Bangsie back to her room.

Bangsie wasn’t moving or showing any signs of life at all.

Mira stared at Bangsie, brows furrowed.

The doll still didn’t move. Mira pouted.

She sighed, looking away from the doll.

“Unfair.” She murmured; her voice laced with disappointment.

“I thought I would have a new friend.” She said as she stood up, giving up.

“You... you want to befriend me?”
