Three days later, Delfina woke up with a jolt. She wasn't in the alley like she was before, but instead she was lying on a bed in an elegant bedroom. She felt a thirst rise in her throat. It wasn't a thirst for water or a thirst for any drink she's ever had. It felt like a thirst for blood. Her senses had heightened and when she turned to her left, she saw a smiling woman. Instead of screaming like she usually would, Delfina hissed, which she had never done before. The woman didn't respond or change her expression.
"Who are you?" Delfina asked, as she jumped off of the bed.
"I'm your new mother."
"New mother?"
"Yes, my child."
Delfina remembered when the strange man named Aro called her "my child." It finally sunk in. She was adopted, at last. But at the age of 14? Who wants a child at the age of 14? People typically wanted a cute little baby. And why did she feel so different?
Delfina walked over to the window, which was shedding the sunlight. She lifted up her arm to the window and her arm sparkled. "What happened to me?"
The woman who was in the room with her didn't respond.
"Why the hell is my skin sparkling?" A lump rose into her throat and she felt like she was going to choke.
"You're not a human anymore. You're something special."
Delfina stood there, frozen in time, processing the words the woman had spoken. You're not a human anymore, she thought.
"Then what am I? What did you do to me?!" She ran up to the woman to attack her, but the woman easily stopped her.
"I did not do anything to you. My husband did."
This woman must be that scum bag Aro's wife. Without saying anything Delfina left the room to find him.

Alec was sitting on the bench under the shade in the garden reading a book. He should be on guard or looking for his sister, Jane, but he decided he needed some peace. Just when Alec got to the good part, he sensed a vampire approaching. He didn't recognize the vampire, so he immediately shut his book, stood up, and was ready to attack any intruder there may be.
He didn't see any dangerous intruder; he saw a vampire girl who was around his age.
"Who are you and what are you doing here?"
"I could be asking you the same question."
"If you're here to threaten us, I can easily destroy you." Alec said. He really didn't want to threaten her because he found her pretty. But that wasn't his job to go "ga-ga" over pretty girls; his job was to protect Aro, Caius, Marcus and their wives.
The girl rolled her eyes and laughed. "Yeah right. I'm trying to find out what the hell happened to me. All I can remember was that I was bitten. Now move out of my way loser."
She pushed him and Alec stumbled back. Stumbling back was a human response. Alec didn't stop her, he just let her go. He was impressed by her attitude because no one ever stood up to him. Maybe she was a newborn and didn't know anything about the Volturi.

Delfina opened the door to another part of the big castle. How were people supposed to find their way around this place?
When she was walking down the hall, inspecting the beautiful paintings hanging on the wall, a blonde man approached her from behind and turned her around. Delfina made a small gasp.
"Oh, you're the new one," the man said in a hateful voice. He walked past her.
Delfina ran to catch up to him. "The new one?" She asked. "Why has no one been telling me what's going on?"
The man inhaled a large amount of air although he didn't need it. "Aro turned you into a vampire. You're now his daughter. And Sulpicia is your mother. Get used to this new life."
So that woman was named Sulpicia, Delfina thought. She seemed nice, but looks meant nothing.
"Oh. And what's your name?"
The man seemed to mouth "another annoying child," but he answered her anyways. "I'm Caius. I'm one of the leaders of the Volturi, and so is your father."
"Where is he?"
"Follow me, I'm heading towards him to give him something."
Caius and Delfina walked down to the room that was at the end of the hall. Caius walked in the room first, and Delfina leaned against the wall. He stayed in there for a few minutes, and when he left, he nodded his head at Delfina for her to enter the room.
At the exact moment the door closed behind her, she completely lost her cool. "Why?" She screamed. "Why did you do this to me?"
"It was my wife's wishes," Aro hissed.
"I don't care! You didn't have to change some random girl you met into some vampire! Do you know what vampires do? Well of course you know, but they drink human blood! They kill people! I don't want to kill people! That's disgusting! I don't want to be some kind of monster!"
After Delfina's rant, Aro just smiled and laughed at her. She was disgusted by his reaction. "Change... change me back! Change me back into a human!"
This only caused his to smile even more and laugh even louder. "You silly girl, you can't undo something. You can't undo a vampire creation like you can undo a mistake."
"So I'm going to stay like this forever?" She asked quietly now. "I'll always be like this?"
Aro nodded his head. Without responding, Delfina groaned loudly and ran out of the room. She had mixed emotions, but anger and sadness stood out the most.
She hated that only one decision someone made for her would change her life.
