We reached back at my parents house and got out the car with Malik. He told me how nothing had change since I left and that he still hasn't been able to make any friends.
My poor baby.
We walked back in to the house and walked in the kitchen to see my mom sharing out food.
"Well I see y'all came back...and you brought back a kid? This y'all son?" She asked.
"Nooo why does everyone think Ricky and I are a thing?" I asked.
"Why you make it sound like it's a bad thing?" Ricky questioned.
My mom started laughing. "The boys went in to the living room to go watch some basketball game so if you need them they're in there." She said.
"Malik you like basketball?" Ricky asked.
"Yea!" Malik said happily.
"Well pull up." Ricky said jogging to the living room with Malik following him.
I let out a sigh and sat on the stool.
"Who's the kids?" My mother asked.
"A child I met at the foster house. I treated him like a son when I was in there and I promised him when I left I would come back." I said.
"Well that's cute? You gonna adopt him?" She asked.
"If I was rich and stabled then yea, but I'm not." I said truthfully.
"Don't you trap with them guys? You should be rich by now." She said.
I chuckled. "It's complicated. I only hang with them because they were gonna help me find y'all and take down Rocaine. Then after that I guess I'm out." I said.
She looked at me hard. "But you don't wanna go do you?" She asked.
I shook my head no. "I love them they're like the family I never had. But I can't keep smooching off on them and the little money I make at the diner ain't helping at all." I said.
"Sorry again Anaya. You're 20 going through all these things because of me and your father we really didn't mean for it to happen." She said.
"Yea well things happen and the only thing we could do is move on from it." I said.
She grabbed my hand from off the table and looked me in my eye.
"If you ever need anything...or just wanna talk, you could let me know." She said.
"Thanks mom." I replied giving her a gentle smile.
She pulled me in for a hug and I hugged back. "Now give the boys these plates of food." She said putting them on a tray.
I walked in and saw all of them with there eyes glued on the TV except for Ricky. He looked stressed out and pissed off and was scrolling on his phone.
"Foods ready guys. Grab a plate." I said resting it on the table.
Everyone picked up a plate except for Ricky.
"Rick you're not eating?" I asked.
"No." He said avoiding eye contact.
I gave him a strange look which made me wonder what the hell was wrong with him. I went back in to the kitchen to grab my plate and walk back in the living room to eat with everyone else.
Turns out my father was kinda like Ricky. They were both loud, obnoxious, and loved sports. I could tell he gets on my mothers nerves but that's why she loved him so much.
