My story isn't anything special, my parents left me on the door step of the orphanage run by nuns in our neighborhood. sixteen years it's been and nothing. every week parents would come in newly weds with no kids looking to give some bright and hopeful orphan the life they wanted, but never me. i always wondered why i was never taken home to a perfect family of a nice mom and a hard working dad and i would be their perfect child who did everything right. instead they took the boring plain kids who never said a word to anybody, they would just sit there blank eyes straight forward fixated on nothing and go through the motions of the day like they were robots. But the nuns were the weirdest part, they looked like normal nuns but had all tattooed eyes and permanent stained black teeth and gums, pupils red and the usual white outside that took up the rest of the eye was colored black. Every night they hand cuffed us the the posts of our beds both hands so that we couldn't escape, the other kids just sat there and let it happen but I put up a fight the first time, kicking and screaming for help but nobody came. Three nuns came over, one put her hand over my mouth, one held me down, and the last one cuffed my hand the stood up and flashed those gross black unnatural looking teeth at me while putting her pointer finger up in front of her mouth and made the universal noise of telling someone the polite way to shut up. I take a deep breathe and roll my eyes. After they walk away I look up at the ceiling so long I fall asleep and wake up the next morning. I'm sixteen now my last year allowed here, todays the day my last chance to finally have my dream of the perfect life, the perfect family. I walk into the interview room sit down in front of the long table I've been so many times staring at my hopes and dreams right between the eyes, nice soft brown eyes. She was beautiful, a single mother no older than thirty with the biggest and Whitest grin I've ever seen. This was the one. We sat still looking at each other in stunned silence, then she finally reached her hand out and waited for me to meet her half way with my hand. I grabbed her soft hand with mine and gave a firm shake, I said in a lifted voice "I'm Victoria" she nodded her head and perched her lips in approval and appreciation that I knew how to speak for myself, she met my gaze once again and with a brilliant booming voice said "I'm Sara, nice to meet you" "nice to meet you" I said right after her. She looked to the door and gave a little nod to the nun standing there looking through the window. In a flash the nun was inside the room directing Sara out, I look to her with desperate eyes "what did I do wrong?" Almost choked up by tears. She turned back and said with unforgivable eyes "everything" then she turned and walked the rest of the length of the room to the door, as she walked I begged her to come back "Please I'll be better, I promise. I'll be the best kid you'll have, please just don't leave" I plead then the nun slammed the door and she was gone, my last chance at my dreams. Gone. I sat there for hours just staring at the table till darkness over took the sky. After I took a moment to gather myself I set off to the giant room full of uncomfortable beds the nuns would cuff us to. I take the suit case from under the bed that we're giving to us as soon as we were put in this place, packed the spare of clothes I had and walked out, I went to the nearest corner store and bought a lighter, a pack of cigarettes and a propane tank from the money I found scavenging the ground the fifteen minutes everyday we were allowed to go outside. I walked back to the orphanage and stood there for a minute in the dead of night and reminisced the sixteen year I spent living in the worst conditions for no pay off. After the moment was up I took the lighter and one of the cigarettes, lit it then stuck it in the head of the propane tank for a second I felt wrong but that feeling only lasted a second, then I just threw it, through the one window in the whole building. With the crash of the glass breaking I stood there with a grin on my face waiting for the climax then a wave a heat and force blew me back and the bang of the explosion temporarily took my hearing away and what was left was a small faint ringing. I look up from the hard concrete and stare in amazement at what I just did, the orphanage was in flames burning down, but before I could revel in the moment sudden blackness took over my vision and before I notice I being lifted away, I struggle and fight trying to get free but to no prevail. I'm thrown into what seemed like a car with loud slams of two doors. I take off the thing blocking my vision and scan my surroundings everything was black and dark but I could make out the silhouette of a window being lit by the bright moon, I scurry over to it and bang as hard as I can screaming for help hoping someone could hear me, but no one could. We began to move and I give up on trying to contact the outside a let the car take me to the destination. After hours the car stops abruptly and the door opens, pouring light of the new morning sun. I squint as I exit through the door. I couldn't see anything as my eyes tried to adjust to the new sunlight. The two men now visible were wearing suits usher me into a pair of double doors held by two more men wearing black suits I walk in and it's just a plain room with many people walking around all dressed in formal work wear. Then an old man in all grey came walking towards me everyone stopped what they were doing and began clapping for him, once he got up to me he shook my hand and lifted it up to his mouth and gave it a gentle kiss he opened his mouth and said "Victoria I'm so glad you're here" and by the tone of his voice I knew I was just thrown into something bad that I didn't wanna be apart of, but my mind wouldn't let me leave. Intrigued I followed this man down the hall he was leading me down. My destiny starts here.
