Geraad

"January Edition"

Tonight was his chance, a chance to prove himself against the strongest dome fighter for over the past ten years.  This was the culmination of his past eighteen years of training.  He fingered the fire bomb he held behind his back and stared back at the red eyed giant lumbering in the other side of the dome.

Geraad had first gotten his name The Gambler during the rookie Fire Sale Classic Melee, where all young hopefuls come to make their name.  He won, but just barely.  He lost an arm and a leg and was about an inch from losing his head too.  The damned pulse grenades.

That year was when things came together.  First he took down the brute, Franklin Fingers.  But harder then him was The Snake, a three foot midget that used bloody surgeon equipment in his fights.  Lost an eye that fight, the damned Snake pulled a whole eyeball out with a scalpel.  But taking down The Snake brought him to the second tier.

He didn't get into the first tier fights until his third year of fighting.  At first, he was outclassed, taking mighty fine whoopings, and a couple times he was close to the unimagable point.  But that year he figured out what his strength was.

Ever since he was a child he liked fighting and he liked one other thing.  The feeling of being on fire was exhilarating.  No pain like it, nothing else he tried compared.  Couldn't even get a thought off at first, the pain was too much.  But the more he did it, the more he could think.  Eventually, he ever learned to hear and smell through the flame.  Even his eyes got used to looking through a haze of fire.  Until that third year in the dome, he had never considered using it as a weapon.

That was when he got his name.  The Gambler.  They thought his usage of a fire bomb was just a gamble, but it was more a sure thing.  If he set the air on fire, he could prevent his opponent from seeing or hearing.  Take away their senses, no matter how strong they were, they couldn't hit him.  But Geraad, he could see and hear fine, and smell his enemies by their burning flesh.

Took down Old King Bossy that way; he set the dome on fire, and the beast went down.  Ever since his popularity kept growing, and The Gambler was more and more known.  Only a matter of time until Miss Universe 3000 -an avid fan of the Fight Domes- recognized his prowess and came to the moon to fall into his big strong arms.

Today he fought Bloody Jimmy, champion of the dome for a decade before he lost his legs.  The old bastard could have been back in the ring within a week if he had just let them quacks reimage him.  But Bloody Jimmy didn't want to risk the side effects so he waited two whole years to grow new legs.  Two years was a long time to be out of the dome, but that big old brute across the ring looked just as mean as he did when Geraad was watching him as a little boy.

Geraad looked down at the photo in his hand.  There she was, the goddess.  Miss Universe 3000, it was her January edition.  She was mid swing in a red one piece swimsuit.  Such wonderful things they can do with gravity, her giant FP melons were almost covering her face!  So big, yet so soft, warm, he just wanted to dunk his head in there and wiggle around in their glory!  He felt a surge of. . . energy.  Geraad was ready, he got his Miss Universe 3000 fix, and now he was ready to kick lunar ass.

The ref motioned for them to come to the middle of the ring.  Geraad pocketed the photo and strode forward.  He met Bloody Jimmy fists with his own while the ref said, "I want a clean fight today.  Just follow the rules, if the other yields or is unconscious, fight is over.  I don't want either of you dying today, you hear?"

"Aye, I got ya," said Geraad, smiling big for all to see.  Well, he smiled mostly for the ladies.  There were certain benefits of being a top dome fighter; they were considered the strongest fighters on the moon.  And there was nothing more revered then strength, women came by the droves to find their big strong hubby.  Jameson was right, Geraad was still getting used to his new found fame, but he didn't think it would take long for him adjust.  Now if only Miss Universe 3000 was watching, surely she would see his strength and descend to the moon in the most beautiful way possible.
