"What news of the outside world? Tell me everything!" Frodo gleamed, you admired him greatly, glancing over at Gandalf, awaiting an answer.
"Well what can I tell you? Life in the wide world goes on much as if it has past age. Full of its own comings and goings, scarcely even aware of the existence of Hobbits...for which I am very thankful for" Gandalf replied.
"What about you, (Y/n)? Still living with your parents near Bree?" Frodo questioned.
"No," you responded, "not with my parents at least. I moved out a couple years ago."
"Oh, well I'd love to visit some time, and I'm sure Sam, Merry, and Pippin would as well!" You smiled at Frodo, the conversation seeming to end there until Gandalf spoke up, "Ah, the long expected party. So, how is the old rascal? I hear it's going to be a party of special magnificence." You glanced at the party field decorated with many tents, streamers, and a sign reading 'Happy Birthday Bilbo Baggins' while Gandalf and Frodo continued their conversation.
"You know Bilbo... he's got the whole place in an uproar." Said Frodo, looking over to you and Gandalf.
"Oh, well... that should please him," you smiled at Gandalf's remark, "Half the Shire's been invited," continued Frodo.
"I've been invited and I don't even live in The Shire..." you said, mostly to yourself.
"He's up to something," hummed Frodo, giving Gandalf a knowing look, "Oh, really?" Gandalf replied, looking away from Frodo. "Alright then, keep your secrets..." their conversation continued for a while longer, you tuning out. You realized you hadn't eaten in quite some time and took out some food you'd put in your traveling bag, eating it while listening back in on the conversation which seemed to be coming to an end.
"Gandalf, (Y/n), I'm glad you're back." He finished glancing at both you and Gandalf with a look of thanks while hopping off the cart. You figured you'd go with Frodo, and grabbed your bag, and finished your quick snack while hopping off the cart as well, but not before hearing Gandalf mutter, "So am I, dear boy... so am I."
(A/n: I feel as if I'm already dragging this story on longer than I should, and I've just started. I just think I should've been at this point in the story by the 2nd or 3rd chapter, but whatever. I'm sorry, I'm a bad writer.
