I enter my bedroom and close the door as quietly as I can. I look around my room, sighing. I walk to my bed and plop down on my stomach. I reach for my phone that is plugged in on the nightstand, I unplug it and text Wesley. "Hey..you busy?" It wasn't even a minute when Wesley replied, "No. I'm in my room.. You ok?" I sighed. "No. I need you to call me." After a minute of waiting, my phone starts buzzing. I answer it right away knowing it's Wesley.
"Hey! Wesley, I..."
"It's not Wesley, stupid girl."
I pull the phone away from my ear and furrow my eyebrows at the "Unknown Caller", I place the phone back to my ear.
"Who is this?"
"Why... You don't even recognize your own fathers voice."
My eyes grow wide and I felt all of the color in my face leave. "Why are you calling me?" I ask, with a shaky voice.
"Alright, I'm done with all of this small talk. I am coming for you..and when I do..you..." He chuckles maliciously. "You won't see daylight ever again. If you thought I was your worst nightmare back at the house.. Imagine me drowning you in the California waters."
"H-How do you know where I am?"
"Your phone, sweetheart. I am tracking you now that you answered."
I gulp. I spoke with all of the courage that I could rally up inside of me, "Leave me alone."
"Ha! In your dreams, darling. I don't know where Wesley is..but you..oh, ho! You. I am coming for you."
I hear a click right after he says that. I look at the phone and see that he has ended the call. I start sobbing. I'm looking around my room, scared to death, I am breathing frantically, I clutch the bed sheets in my fists. I scream at the top of my lungs.
Sawyer's Side of Things:
"I'm not very hungry." She pushes her plate back a little bit, stands up, and walks upstairs to her bedroom. My brothers and I turn our heads towards our parents and raise our eyebrows in question.
Mom sighs, "We didn't want to take them both in because we figured it'd be too much for you guys to have 2 new people added to your lives for awhile."
There's a moment of silence. Miles is the first to speak, "Mom, we would've loved having them both here. Don't you see how broken she is?"
"She needs him." I throw into the mixture of things.
"Honey, we know that. We see it very clearly, but..."
I cut her words short, "She collapsed upstairs sobbing to me. She was scared. She kept envisioning all of the awful things her parents ever did to her! She needs Wesley. That's what keeps her stable."
Dad nods and speaks for the first time since our conversation has started, "How about when she falls asleep, you get her phone, write down Wesley's contact, and then we promise to call him and have him come live with us. How does that sound?"
We all nod our heads.
"We have to get him here either way we swing it." Mason says.
Not even a minute after he says that, Riley screams a blood curling scream. I jump out of my chair and send it flying back, running up to her room. I can hear my family following close behind me.
