Prognosticate: foretell or prophesy

I wake up at six again today. I take a shower and get dressed in ripped blue jeans, a black crop top, and a button up on top of it. I apply mascara and put on my shoes before I grab my phone. I scroll through my notifications: sixteen new likes, five new comments, and eight retweets. I smile, grab my bag, and go downstairs.

Thomas and Sarah are already eating a bowl of Lucky Charms when I arrive in the kitchen. I grab a bowl and pour some Lucky Charms into mine along with milk. I sit down and eat it quietly as Tommy and Sarah crack jokes.

"What's black and white and red all over?" Thomas asks.

"I don't know, what?" Sarah begs for the answer.

"A penguin with a sunburn." Sarah erupts in a fit of giggles. I taught him that joke a few months ago and he thought it was the funniest thing in the world. I chuckle and shake my head. Her laugh is so contagious. When I'm done eating, mom walks in and kisses all of our foreheads, I smile.

"Good morning, mom." I stand up and kiss her cheek before going to wash my bowl and spoon.

"How'd my babies sleep?" She asks. Thomas and Sarah say 'good', and I respond with 'better than lately.'

"Good," She smiles at me and then checks the time, "oh shoot! We're late, come on kids, we have to go. Put your dishes in the sink and get your backpacks." We do what she tells us and then we all head out to the car. The kids sit in the back and I sit in the passenger seat.

We drop them off at Taylor Elementary School and she kisses them both goodbye. Then they scurry out of the car and to the playground. I went to Taylor when I was little too, then I went to Lynch Middle School, and now I go to Lynch Wood High School. I liked all of the schools, everyone was super kind and supportive.

"How's Amber?" Mom asks me and I shrug.

"I don't really know. We haven't been hanging out as much lately. She's been busy with some family stuff."

"Oh yeah, that explains why she hasn't come over. Just make sure she's doing okay, and tell her I said to come by for dinner tonight." She smiles as she drives to my school. Amber and I have been best friends since we were twelve, so Amber is practically another daughter for my mom. She really loves her, almost as much as me.

"Okay," I nod, "I will." I make a mental note not to forget to invite her and I smile when I think about her. God, I love that girl with all my heart.

"Oh! Is she still with Kyle?" She glances at me as she turns onto the road that leads to Lynch Wood.

"Yeah, actually, Saturday was their seven month anniversary. She's really happy with him, mom." I explain.

She chuckles a little, "well that's good, as long as she doesn't get pregnant." She stops the car in the bus circle and turns to me.

"I'll make sure she doesn't." I smile and mom looks at me with such love struck eyes. It makes me feel super happy and lucky to have her as my mother. She is so sweet, caring, and supportive, which is more than a lot of people can say.

"I love you so much, sweetie. I am so proud of you." She smiles at me with a smile so true and pure.

"Thank you, mom, I love you too." I lean towards her and kiss her cheek. Then pull away and hop out of the car. "Bye, mom, have a good day."

"You too, sweetie." She waves and I close the door, then walk into the school.

When I walk inside the big metal doors, the cold air hits me like a train and a shiver runs down my spine. After that quick second, the coldness washes over me and I'm warm again. I look around for someone I know when Chadwell runs up and hugs me.
