Verity: truth
I didn't text Amber. I didn't text my mom. Instead, I texted Eric. He said he was still at school and didn't mind giving me a ride home so I made my way to the gym where he was hanging with some friends. I walked into the gym and heard the familiar sounds of shoes squeaking on the shiny wooden surface. The doors slammed shut behind me and I jerked my head back at it before all the noise stopped.
I turned back to the scene before me to see everyone looking at me. "Hi." I did a small wave before I hooked my thumb over my shoulder. "I'll just um. I'll be outside." I head Eric chuckle a little and he nodded at me. I started heading for the door, hearing Eric say bye to all of his friends. The door shut behind me and then it opened again and Eric popped up besides me.
"Hey." I turn to him and he looks over my face, frowning. "You've been crying." I just shrug my shoulder.
"Just some family stuff." I lie. He nods and wraps his arms around my body giving me a warm hug. I hug him back, resting my head on his shoulder. My body relaxes a little and we pull away, making me miss the warmth from his body.
"Ready to go?" He asks me as he lifts his duffel bag up off of the floor and sets the strap of it on his shoulder. I nod and smile. We walk to the parking lot behind the gym and he leads me to one on the last few cars in the parking lot.
"That's yours?" I gawk. Most kids at this school had old cars like beat up pick-up trucks or old Honda Accords but not him. He had a shiny, black 2015 Ford Mustang. He just chuckles and shakes his head.
"No. My parent's." I give him a questioning look. "They want to see if they can trust me with it before they actually give it to me. I have it for a month. I can only go to school and back but if I do good enough I get to keep it."
"What's good enough for them?" I ask him.
"I don't destroy her." He smirks and we both laugh before he opens my door and I get in. He shuts it behind me and I feel my cheeks start to heat up. That was really sweet. When he gets in the car I run a hand through my hair and look at him.
"So. Where to?" He turns on the car and rest his hands on the wheel.
"Are you even allowed to take me home?" I question him referring to the part of his speech where he said he's only allowed to go to school and back home.
He just shrugs. "They don't have to know." I shake my head and laugh at him.
"7th street." He nods and starts to drive.

"Thanks for the ride." I get out of Eric's car after he pulls up in front of my house. He nods at me.
"No problem. I'll talk to you tomorrow?" A smile spreads across my face and I nod before walking backwards and turning around at the same time. I walk inside and Amber comes running down the stairs making her footsteps sound like rolling thunder.
"Finally!" She shrieks. "I've been waiting for you. I got you something bitch!" She grabs my hand and tugs me up the stairs into my room. On my bed is a Victoria's Secret bag and a UPS package. I smile at her.
"What's this for?" She just laughs.
"Nothing. Now hurry up and open it before I do!" She jumps up and claps her hands. A giggle escapes her lips and I turn to her. I want to tell her about what happened after school but I can't bring myself to do it. I turn to my bed and grab the Victoria's Secret bag. I pull out the pink tissue paper revealing a matching set of flowery lace underwear and bras.
She erupts in a fit of giggles and I look up at her. "Keep going hoe!" I reach for the UPS package and open the box. I pull out pink fabric and unfold it. It's a really short, long sleeved dress. It looks like it is supposed to be extremely fitting and something I would never wear.
