Chapter 7

Esoteric: Intended for only a small number of people

I was woken up by my alarm clock and I groaned. Six in the morning again, I can't wait to graduate so I can finally sleep in. I smile as the fresh memories from yesterday sunk in and then I began to frown realizing the seriousness of it. I was going to have to tell him that I couldn't become involved in him.

I got dressed for school in a pair of blue jeans, and a white crop top. I finish the outfit off with a tied flannel around my waist and white shoes. I grab my bag and bounce down the stairs passing up my mom on the way.

I sit down at the kitchen table that already has food waiting for me.

"What time did you get home last night?" My mom raises an eyebrow at me.

"About 8. We ate while we were at the mall so I just took a shower and went to bed. Sorry for not letting you know mom." I apologize earning a kiss on my cheek from her.

"It's okay. Next time tell me so I don't have a plate waiting for you." She instructs me and I say okay. She joins the table, sitting besides me. We eat for a few minutes before I look at Thomas and Sarah who are doing homework at the table while eating their breakfast. When we're all done and the kids don't help us to clean because they are doing homework, mom walks over to them.

"Didn't I tell you guys to do your homework after school? Not in a rush before it." She lectures them and I stifle a laugh.

Mom drops off the kids first and then takes me to school. This morning we just talk about our days yesterday. When we get to my school, I give her a kiss and tell her I love her before heading inside. I start walking towards Mr.Porter's class to tell him I can't do this. But I'm stopped by Chadwell.

"Hey bitch. Did he ask you?" He asks me.

"What?" I respond confused.

"Eric. Did he ask you to the dance?" He says with big eyes indicating that his question was perfectly crystal clear.

"Oh." I laugh "Yeah. He did. I said yes." Chad jumps up and claps excitedly. "You're just like Amber." I giggle and he gives me dagger eyes. "Alright alright okay okay." I giggle again. It's not that Chad doesn't like Amber, frankly he loves her. But he hates when I compare him to other people even if I'm joking. He says it's his number one pet peeve.

"Hey, are you busy? I need someone to hang with for right now." He says.

"Actually yeah I am. I'm sorry. See if Ash is here. I gotta go." I hug him and start to continue walking to Mr.Porter's room. When I get in there I see a pretty angry Mr.Porter and that girl with the pacifier arguing. When he sees me his face softens up and he smiles.

"Hey." He welcomes me.

"H-hi." I look down and move my hair behind my ear. "I can come back later." I turn to walk out but he stops me.

"No it's okay. Claire was just leaving." He stands up and she glares at him.

"Yeah. I was." She stomps pass me and out the door all the while I look after her.

He clears his throat. "What was all that about?" I ask him.

"Nothing." He shakes his head. "What's up?"

"I'm sorry. I can't do this. I thought I could but I can't." I apologize.

"What? What are you talking about? Yes you can. Trust me. You'll love it. And I'll love it. You already agreed to at least a week. Please please please, keep your promise." I just stare at him in his eyes and then the door opens. His head jerks to the side to see a student walking in. "Get out. You're early and I'm dealing with another student." The guy at the door looks at me and then Mr.Porter and then walks out the door. "There's so much you'll learn from this. I promise it'll be great."
