Josh was very into online dating.
It first started when he got a text from a guy on Twitter. The guy asked if he wants to be frens, because he had noticed him and Josh have the same taste in music. The guy lived in Las Vegas while Josh lived in Columbus, so they didn't really have any chonce of meeting. They were both still teenagers at the time; Josh was fifteen and the guy was sixteen.
First, they were just frens. That rather quickly grew into best frens. And after only a few months, they were officially boyfrens. And they were happy. Until the guy just couldn't bear with the distance anymore and asked Josh to break up.
Josh got offended. The guy did ask for them to remain frens, but Josh didn't want to.
A few online relationships later, Josh was a grown man, living in his own place and he had a job. He worked at Taco Bell, so it wasn't anything special, but it was a job.
Also, since he doesn't have to listen to his Mom anymore, he decided to give cocaine a go. Truly, nobody forced him into trying it. It was purely his decision. He wanted it and he was going to get it.
His dealer was always on time, leaving the drugs right where they'd agree. The dealer was kind of mysterious, never allowing any of his costumers to see his face. He'd be all dressed up and drop off the drugs on the agreed spot five minutes before the agreed time. He thus managed to hide his identity.
Then again, who the hell cares about the dealer - it's the drugs that matter.
Josh's only problem right now was Taco Bell. He didn't get enough money from working there. Cocaine was expensive. He was starting to reduce the number of groceries he buys, only to try and save some money. He was getting skinnier and skinnier, but there still wasn't enough money. His dealer was patient though. Kind of. Josh promised to give him the money eventually.
Right now, Josh was in an online relationship that he really liked. The guy was from Ohio, which meant they could actually meet each other. They've been dating for only a month, but Josh could feel some kind of a spark between them. He still didn't dare to tell this guy about his drug "problem", but why would he - they've been dating for only a single freaking month. They haven't even talked yet; only texts for now. The guy sent a few pictures of himself, but Josh played on the "I'm shy' card and never sent a single picture.
The guy Josh was dating was nice, cute, gorgeous and called Tyler. It was a pretty name, Josh concluded. But Tyler disagreed, saying how he would've picked himself a completely different name if he could. Josh asked him why doesn't he just change his name - everybody does that these days. But Tyler just said nothing in reply; he changed the subject.
Tyler was so submissive and cute, which was actually Josh's first relationship in which he can actually come out as a boss. Well, that was his way of painting that picture.
On this particular day, Josh hadn't spoken to Tyler all day. He was under too much stress to text his boyfren right now. He just realized there was no way he could pay for the coke. He bought too much and he had no money. He looked like a skeleton; not because of the coke, but because of the starvation he made himself go through in order to save more money.
Today, he decided to call his dealer. He was a very reasonable man, Josh reckoned. He'll understand and maybe let Josh pay sometime in far future. Right now, Josh was dying but was lucky to notice it in time.
Josh dialed the number he had scribbled onto a tiny paper and waited exactly four rings after his dealer picked up.
"Who is it?"
"J- Josh Sun"
"Josh Sun! How lovely to hear from you. Have you got the money? I've been waiting for a long, long time now, Josh"
Josh gulped, intimidated by the guy's voice "Actually, I- I wanted to tell you tha-"
"Tell me what?" the dealer interrupted, impatiently for once.
Josh took a short pause to calm himself down "I- I- I can't pay you"
There was a full minute of uncomfortable silence, but the dealer soon spoke "You've got to be kidding me"
"N- No, I-"
"For how long, Josh?!" the dealer started to shout "For how long have I been bringing you coke and allowing you to pay later?! Well guess what, later has passed"
Quick enough, the dealer hung up. Josh gulped in fear, but he didn't even know how to fix anything. He had no money and he had no strength. He can only pray for himself to be able to escape. He'll leave his house tomorrow morning and then he'll ask Tyler for a place to stay. Yeah, that'll be easy.
Although, that dealer probably won't do anything anyways. He'll just be angry and whine to his dealer frens.
Josh laughed at the thought as he walked over to the front door of his apartment because the doorbells was ringing.
Josh opened the door, meeting the surprise that was the masked man he knew as his dealer. His eyes popped in utter fear, but shock held him in place.
The man took his mask off and revealed the face of no less than Josh's boyfren Tyler. Josh's jaw now dropped and he was going to smile to hug his beloved one.
But Tyler rose his hand and pointed a gun to Josh's chest-
BAM, BAM, BAM, BAM
Josh lied dead at the doorframe of his apartment. Tyler walked inside and stole everything valuable he could've possibly found. He never found out what happened to his boyfren, but in his line of business - he was over Josh quickly.
